Hotel Monticello — Hotel in Tagaytay

First the ambience in the lobby was good, nice lobby decor and clean. Check -in was great, everything we need was accommodated. However more issues that happened during our stay, we occupied 2 rooms since were 9 of us. So in room 303, the issue was the toilet not working properly plushies issues, attendant come -in, tried to fix the problem, few minutes later, I place my shoulder bag in the counter near the complimentary water bottle, and coffee machine. Not knowing that there’s bags, (aunts and cockroaches).So I call the front desk to tell them that they have bags around the counter, attends come -in with the Raid cans in his hands, spray around the counter and open the drawer where the coffee and creamer was stored, more aunts and cockroaches inside of the drawers, he sprayed them and wipe the area after. The next day I have bags bites in my arm, not happy about that, went to used the toilet won’t plush, call the attends again, he tried to fix it this time it working. Breakfast was good lots of choices and the staff was friendly everything was good. But I was not happy that I have bags bites. So I went to the front desk and see if I can talk to the manager, she said manager will be here at 9 am. I said okay. After my breakfast I pass through the front desk again, manager are in. But busy at that time, so I decided to used the restroom, first door I open toilet seat has bags, I was surprise with all of the bags I encountered in this hotel. Manager Raffy Binay tried to move us to different room during our conversation, I said they should offer that last night when I told them about the bags in our room. I show him my bags bites, his response was maybe It’s allergies, I said no looked at my other arm. I don’t have it on my right arms, told him that I have video the bags around the counter and walls. So he want to see it too. He come -in to our room and see more aunts on the drawer. Very disappointed, poor handling...

The view from the 5th floor at the pool side is better as it had a balcony where you can sit in the morning and have a breath of fresh air. The staff from the reception was responsive although they only operate until 9pm. They were all friendly and nice, though the guard on duty won't actually greet you with a "Good day or Good Morning". Breakfast was scheduled for in-room delivery and is plated. They will ask to place the choices for the food when you check-in which I found quite convenient so you won't have to decide the next day.

They have installed a hand washing area outside which was okay. The hotel also follows strict compliance on QR code scanning of declaration form and body temperature check. They provide own sanitation kit with alcogel and face mask upon check-in. There is a restaurant just right outside the hotel and a bank across the street which was pretty helpful. Location in terms of distance to the must visit places would be a 5. Just about a 5minute drive to Sky Ranch, 15mins to Balay Dako, 15mins to Twin Lakes and about 10mins to Mahogany Market.

Bed was comfy enough although they could possibly add up spare pillows inside the cabinet. Cable TV worked fine and the wifi speed was pretty decent. Toiletries were set, good thing they also have slippers! Hot and cold shower works perfectly fine. They sell merchandise at the lobby if you need swim wears and some other personal items.  They allow guests to reserve use of pool and gym until 5pm which I took advantage of and it is refreshing to have it all by yourself. Loved the Christmas spirit from the lobby to each of the floors. Left review for the whole experience...

Not so happy and satisfied. Perhaps I was comparing our stay and experience there to other hotels where I booked usually an overnight stay for special occassions like birthdays, anniversaries and the like. Upon arrival there’s no Welcome drink to quench our long travel. They asked me thru online booking do I have special request for our stay. Since its the 60th birthday of my husband and its my treat I was requesting them to have a simple greetings for him. Like in 8 suites hotel The moment they heart its our anniversary they immediately prepared a sweet Greeting in our room. Our stay was over kahit maliit na cake wala.

Then the temperature controlled swimming Pool we are expecting they can offer In the absence of Lake view or any garden view was not functioning. Since we are not Young to swim in cold Pool so we just stayed in our room.

The ambiance of the hotel is not happy and nothing special to offer except the room is clean.

But what really disappointed me is there are lots of hotels in Tagaytay I can book to make the stay of my husband on 60the birthday memorable but I did the wrong decision of booking at hotel Montecillo.
