Last night I stayed at the Holiday Inn Évora and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. I barely slept due to the uncomfortable mattress and pillow, which made the night difficult.
While I appreciate that everything is brand new, the quality of the furnishings isn’t the best. On the positive side, the staff were incredibly kind and polite, which I appreciated.
I arrived around 1am, and when I tried to take the stairs, I got stuck for about 10 minutes because I didn’t have my room key to unlock the door. There were no signs indicating that a room card was needed to access the levels or even exit the stairwell. While I appreciate the security measures, clear signage would have helped avoid the confusion. Thankfully, the receptionist was kind enough to answer the phone and assist me.
Later, around 4am, I had to go to the reception because the AC wasn’t working properly, and it was too warm in the room. The light from the AC control was also extremely bright and disruptive, as shown in the photos.
Regarding the bathroom, the shower door only opens halfway due to its placement next to the toilet, and opening it inward caused water to splash across the bathroom floor, which was frustrating.
The breakfast was basic, not bad, but nothing special.
As a Hilton Honors member, I was disappointed with this experience, especially since Holiday Inn is part of the Hilton group. It didn’t meet the standards I’ve experienced with other Holiday Inn properties, particularly in the US, where I’ve stayed multiple times and had much better experiences.
Beware you need to park your car in the street with no security around.
Overall, the price for Holiday Inn Évora is far too high for...
Read moreThe location and breakfast was good. Negative things are - 2 nights during our 4 nights stay, the hall light came on in the middle of the night for 30 minutes long and we could not turn it off manually. - inconsistent housekeeping service: 2 times the coffee and tea sachets were not refilled. The tea & coffee sachets are cramped onto the only shelf for storing under the TV.- Bed was made up in a rush, pillows were laid disarrayed.- room and bathroom were very small and bright, feels like a surgical room rather than a hotel room. The clothes cupboard to hang clothes in is small. There is also a small storage cupboard which has only an ironing board in it. - No space to put a luggage stand.-The worst was when we first notified the staff in regards to the light and the house keeping which was not attended to seriously. The attitude of the staff was not helpful for us as guests. The light coming on was not taken care of until the second time that we complained to them. The lack of housekeeping (tea & coffee sachets) seemed to be that they were very focussed on costs by only providing us with a very minimal amount.Overall the room is small and not at all practical for people travelling with...
Read moreThe hotel opened just a few months ago—everything is very new and attractive. The avenue in front of the hotel has plenty of free parking. The hotel also has a paid indoor parking lot. The surrounding area is safe, even at night. The hotel is truly beautiful, more luxurious than others in the chain. The furnishings are functional and visually appealing. The room I stayed in was perhaps a bit small but had a huge wall-mounted LCD TV, excellent wall and ceiling lighting, and large windows. If the room had a fridge and a safe, it could easily be mistaken for a four-star luxury hotel. The bathroom was huge, also with wall and ceiling lighting. It had excellent fixed hygiene products with a great scent. Breakfast is served in the adjacent restaurant, accessible directly from the hotel reception. It was excellent, with a wide selection of sweet and savory items. The staff was attentive and present. There are many restaurants in the area, so I didn’t try the hotel’s restaurant for dinner. There’s a nice pool that belongs to the adjacent restaurant. Through a partnership, guests can access it for about fifteen...
