Villa Oasis Gale — Hotel in Albufeira

The house and its location fully correspond to the information provided. At arrival, everything was clean and ready to be used. We stayed for two weeks, and during week one, everything went well. Mid-stay, someone broke in during the night and robbed us. Even though we communicated the situation to the police, we didn't feel safe for the rest of our stay. We had two young children and were super scared that something horrible could happen to them. We didn't get any support from the house host after this happened, and even though the house itself is lovely, we do not think it is safe. We definitely will not recommend it to our closed ones.

Below is my response to the comments left by the house host, as I do believe I have the right to defend myself from direct personal accusations:

(HOST) "Segundo a Catarina, a equipa de limpeza coordenadas pela minha esposa no Sábado de manhã enquanto vocês estavam na Villa, colocaram um pano de limpeza na cortina da janela para pudessem forçar a entrada durante a noite."

(Catarina) Foi a GNR que nos disse que a forma de entrada na casa teria sido arranjada do lado de dentro e foi também a GNR que questionou o dono da casa sobre se a equipa de limpeza seria da sua confiança. Eu NUNCA acusei a equipa de limpeza e nem sequer me pronunciei sobre isso. O nosso papel foi apenas chamar a GNR, reportar um roubo e informar o dono da casa.

(HOST) "Quando no Domingo de manhã, a GNR (polícia) chamada ao local, a Catarina informou-me que a equipa de limpeza tirou € 60 de uma carteira, mas não levou nenhum cartão de crédito que também estavam na carteira, ou o iPhone que estava perto desta."

(Catarina) Eu NUNCA afirmei que a equipa de limpeza tenha levado o que quer que seja. Mais uma vez, foi a GNR que quiz explorar essa opção. A única coisa que nós fizemos foi chamar a Guarda, mostrar-lhes a janela por onde tinham entrado, as malas todas abertas e espalhadas pelo chão, as carteiras que não tinham o dinheiro e mais nada. Nenhum de nós acusou a empresa de limpeza.

(HOST) "Achamos isso muito difícil de acreditar também porque o seu cão, Artur estava no quarto ao lado, onde a Srª. se encontrava com o marido, e não se apercebeu de nada."

(Catarina) Isto é completamente irrelevante. O nosso cão de 9Kg está treinado para não fazer barulho em casa e mesmo que tenha feito algum barulho é possível que nós não o tenhamos ouvido pois estávamos a dormir com a porta fechada. Calculo que qualquer pessoa que assalte uma casa não ande propriamente a fazer barulho e que tente ser o mais silencioso possível.

(HOST) "Curiosamente, ou não tanto assim, informados pela GNR (polícia) vocês não quiseram apresentar queixa e foram calmamente para a praia."

(Catarina) Não sei como é que o senhor sabe se nós apresentámos ou não queixa na GNR, dado que isso não é de conhecimento público. Incrivelmente, nem sequer sei como é que o senhor afirma que depois do sucedido nós fomos para a praia... estava a vigiar-nos? Nesse dia ficámos em casa, em choque, a tentar processar o que tinha acontecido.

(HOST) "Curioso ainda, foi a sua reacção quando eu disse, que não se preocupassem, pois todas as nossas casas estão legais, com seguro e inscritas no Turismo de Portugal…"

(Catarina) Não percebi este comentário. Quando eu lhe ligo às 8h da manhã de um Domingo a dizer que fomos assaltados, a sua primeira pergunta foi "e têm seguro?" e eu fiquei perplexa e respondi que não mas que acreditava que o senhor tivesse seguro, por ser o proprietário de uma casa...até hoje, aguardamos que a sua pergunta fosse "então e vocês estão bem, precisam de ajuda?" mas infelizmente não foi esse o tratamento que tivemos da vossa parte.

(HOST) "Não acreditei, nem acredito na vossa versão, pois estou plenamente convencido que nada aconteceu"

(Catarina) Está no seu total direito, tal como nós estamos no nosso direito de apresentar o nosso lado do sucedido e deixar uma Review...

For me, a holiday isn’t just about the destination, but also about all the experiences that surround it.

We loved the position of the villa: two beaches within easy reach, as well as a selection of bars and restaurants.

The villa in itself was also great (although the upstairs twin is more suited to younger children rather than teens/adults). The fabulous separate outside spaces work brilliantly when you are a group.

We had early flights, and were allowed a very early bag drop, and were not for one minute led to believe we were an inconvenience.

After the bag drop, the hosts went out of their way to show us where to get brunch and how to get to the beach.

Once we arrived back at the villa, after a show-around, the host drove us to and from the supermarket, and en-route showed us the other local beaches and restaurants they’d recommend.

The communication in the weeks up to and during our stay was beyond excellent, even to where to buy football tickets when we requested!

We felt like like we were staying with family friends rather than being “clients”.

The experience really was fabulous, and I honestly got the feeling that us having a good holiday was as important to the hosts as it was to us.

Lovely villa that had everything a family could need for a relaxing stay. The villa is decorated in the most remarkable way; we noticed something intriguing about the decor everyday. It was so lovely, members of our party were happy to stay at the villa for the day rather than go out exploring! We found the close-by supermarket more than adequate to provide food for self catering, yet we also enjoyed some meals out at close by Massa Fina and the restaurant at Praia Do Laurenço. We were a party of 15-80 year olds so never went to the caves but we had some lovely days out Albufeira and Silves (highly recommended), both using the taxi recommended by the villa owners. The villa was near many beaches, our favourite was Praia Do Laurenço as it was smaller than Praia Da Gale and had lots of rocks to explore and the water was fairly easy to swim in. Our hosts couldn’t do enough to make our stay not only comfortable but enjoyable too: meeting us, recommending places to go and even arranging taxis and being there to ensure our transfer came.
