I arrived around 22h in the evening -plane delayed- and as the reception was closed, I had to check in with a guard. He asked me to fill out a document, and then told me he needed an ID and that I could pick it up in the morning at the reception. I felt a bit hesitant, we were standing outside his boot, next to a little table, and it just didn't seem the place to leave your ID. Nevertheless I did. I put a reminder in my phone to pick it up the next day. And what do you know, when I went to the reception the next day, they told me they didn't have my ID. That meant I would have to go to the embassy, get an emergency travel doc to be able to go home. Plus get a new ID at home, all that trouble and costs. They didn't manage to find it back. They offered to pay the costs for my new ID, and I told them I expect them to reimburse the costs for the taxi to and from the embassy and the emergency travel doc, too. My friends are worried about identity theft, i have blocked the ID, so I hope that is sufficient. Basically: never hand over your ID (anywhere). Otherwise, the place was decent enough, the people at the restaurant were superkind, if this rather big snag hadn't happened, it would have been a good...
Read moreThe Good: the staff is nice and correct and the facilities meet all the standard requirements. Also is a 10 minute walk to a great beach. ||The bad: the campsite is fairly close to the city but is not a true city camping. Public transport (ferry/bus) will take 1-1,5 hours for a single trip to get to Belém/Lisbon.||The ugly: this is what makes it a city camping: the noise of the nearby road with rages on 24 hours and planes that fly by every 5 minutes during the day and evening. This is no place to get some rest. ||||Tip: If you're in for the beach this is the place for you. Especially if you don't mind traffic noise and big campings. If you want some rest in between you visits to Lisbon I recommed not to stay here. It's okay for one night if you're passing through but that's about it. ||||Also only book 1 night to check it for yourself. I booked 4 nights (you have to pay in advance) but left after only 1 night. Reception doesen't offer refunds (!). I was told to e-mail Orbitur head office to ask for a refund. I'll keep you posted on how...
Read moreVery overpriced campsite for what is offered.
Its camping pitches are terrible even with hard ground pegs could not get them half way into the ground.
The campsite claims it is close to Lisbon however it is a 40min walk or a bus journey to the ferry. The ferry only takes you to Belem which is 30 min crossing at which point it is still another 1hr walk or public transport to get into Lisbon centre so it's a lot of hassle to get in for a visit. Driving seems like it would be a hassle too and would still take 30 minutes but you would have to pay a toll to cross the bridge.
The campsite itself has very run down toilet facilities with showers that you are unable to set the temperature and most of the time it either comes out scorching hot or freezing cold.
They also only provide two washing machines which had long queues and were always occupied as needed to be shared between such a large campsite.
This campsite would need alot of investment to get it up to a decent standard and due to location is no good for...
