ParedeFlats — Hotel in Cascais

I booked a long stay of 12 nights for our holiday based on the their description. However, to our great surprise, there were many major and minor discrepancies. The main one being that there is only one room not two as advertised! There is a very thin curtain that "divides and separates" the single room. According to the property, this curtain magically converts one large dorm style room into two.

There was no privacy and everyone slept in the same room as if we were camping in a tent or at a youth hostel or dorm room. This would have been fine if we had chosen and paid for this option, but we paid and chose a two bedroom apartment at a premium price.

There was also supposed to be a clothes dryer, there was not. This was an important criteria for our booking as we were 5 people staying in a small place for nearly two weeks. This meant frequent washes, but nowhere to dry clothes. So we had to use a clothes line, which took up most of the living room.

There were many other issues, a couch cushion for a mattress, a cot style fold up frame for said mattress, filthy hangers that we had to wash to use, outside spaces that were not cleaned and were unusable despite a description to the contrary, broken items that did not work or had limited functionality and a general lack plates/cups etc. for 5 people.

There was also sings of mold in the bathroom and living room area.

The property will say that they were accommodating, and they did try to fix some of the above, however, a curtain does make two rooms and they refused to admit this. Although I am sure that they will continue to justify this here. They also never provided their operating license and may not be operating as a legal and insured rental.

The bottom line is that you should be very weary of booking here as the property management was not honest or upfront and was misleading and indirect when asked for accountability. In short, they cannot be trusted. They cat-fished us.

We have booked many locations over the years, and have never had to deal with a situation like this. We did try throughout our stay to reason with them and ask for a partial refund in accordance with the real life situation of their property, what we paid for and what we actually got. However, they refused or only offered a token response.

But worst of all, they would not admit to their deception and insisted that a hanging curtain (paper thin) makes one...
