Hotel Dom Luís — Hotel in Elvas

Have stayed in other hotels in the region and this compares very well. Handy location right in front of the historic Aqueduct so great photo opportunity straight away. You can walk up right along the aqueduct into the old town but it is a steep walk up to one of the higher parts of the town. Easier to walk a very short bit up the road to the next crossing then along the other way into the town. There is a petrol station and a spar right beside the hotel with a restaurant above. The hotel has a large cool reception area and the reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. The rooms were clean and of a good standard. The facilities are good and the communal areas are nice and bright and comfortable. No restaurant, it only caters to large events but you can eat from a snack menu at the bar attached to the hotel. Although there is an access from the hotel, the bar is not part of the hotel and can close early in the evening. The bathroom is good, the shower water does go out onto the floor and the light is on a short timer so expect the light to go off and leave you in total darkness. Waving your arm about switches it back on. While in the shower you have to wave your arm outside the shower which is not convenient. Breakfast is a continental buffet with warm bacon and small hotdog type sausages. A bit different and fairly basic but enough to get you going in the day. Percam tempo a ler esta review pois vai salvar-vos dinheiro e dores de cabeça. Ar condicionado não funcionava n primeiro dia e foi-nos atribuído outro quarto no 2o dia. Pequeno almoço esperávamos algo regional e é banal, sem gosto, industrial. Piscina com falta de manutenção (azulejos em falta no fundo e laterais, a qualquer momento pode causar lesões a um cliente), água constantemente suja com dejetos de pombo, penas etc e sim, muitos pombos na área da piscina, janelas, e que bebem da água da piscina. Motores de circulação da água da piscina frequentemente desligados. Pedimos cama de casal aquando da reserva, no entanto temos dois colchões de solteiro juntos com um sobrecolchão por cima para disfarçar - a nível de conforto e serviço prestado não vai de todo de acordo com as nossas expectativas. Quando escolhemos cama de casal numa reserva, é uma cama de casal que queremos, se não conseguem assegurar o pedido, nós vemos outra opção - simples. Não pagamos 93€/noite para darem um jeito, é para apresentarem um serviço presente nas condições de aluguer. Seja via parceiro ou diretamente com o hotel, o cliente quando reserva , conta com aqueles serviços mínimos prestados, e os mesmos não foram de acordo com a realidade. O staff é todo simpático e dísponivel. Acreditamos que o problema aqui seja falta de recursos. É legítimo, mas o preço pedido tem de baixar ou então reduzir a lista de serviços possíveis de prestar. Alguns quartos têm WC's mais modernos que outros, sendo que um deles tem o poliban muito curto e a água verte. Alguns quartos não têm tomadas junto das mesas de cabeceirq, e no geral nenhum tem FrigoBar/Minibar (algo que sabiamos mas quando cá chegámos vimos a imensa falta que faz especialmente no verão). Tinham problemas de insonorização pelas reviews passadas que vimos no entanto isso já foi resolvido, não ouvimos qualquer barulho da rua, excepto das patas dos pombos no parapeito dos quartos virados para a piscina. Vamos embora com 5 noites de 7 possíveis, com um sentimento de que já vamos tarde e com má experiência. Temos pena de não ter visto a fundo as reviews passadas, pois muitas referem estes pontos que são muito chatos, causam grande descontentamento, mas temos sempre a esperança de "ah são reviews antigas, já melhoraram concerteza, têm uma boa avaliação geral" , well, não é bem assim. A localização do hotel é boa, Elvas é uma cidade pacata , calma boa para relaxar e desligar do trabalho, come se muito bem ( Recanto de São Paulo e O Lagar os nossos eleitos) no entanto, o hotel tem esses aspectos...

This is a clean and comfortable hotel. It’s pretty basic in what it provides. No in room services, standard but limited buffet breakfast and whilst there is bar attached to the hotel this is not part of the hotel (they do provide some decent bar food in the evening). Coincidentally, those that run the bar also run a tuk tuk around Elvas and you should avail yourself of this service. ||Off street parking is available (across from the hotel under the aqueduct) but be careful as there are two parking areas and one looks like it has to be paid for. ||Its location is just a short walk outside of the old town (maybe 10-15 minutes).
