Our stay at Palmares can best be described in one word: pampered. From the sprawling view to the aromatic shampoo, conditioner, and cream, everything about the accommodations made us feel pampered. With respect to the pillows, there is room for improvement. Nevertheless, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and although the location is set off from the town, Lagos was accessible within 10 minutes by car. We actually went into town and did a full hike at Ponta de Piedade, enjoying the dirt trails over the manicured walkways.
The hotel sits on a expansive golf course and, beyond that, the ocean. It's a beautiful vista, to say the least. The hotel itself is small with, I believe, 20 rooms. The layout of the room is well thought out with an open concept bathroom that circles the front entrance and opens into the bedroom. A tub and vanity remain exposed with private rain shower and water closet. A sliding door can be leveraged to create a barrier between the room and tub/vanity area.
The bed faces patio doors that look out onto the golf course and beach. There is also a sitting area with a loveseat. A nice sized patio completes the room.
The hotel dining options include the lobby restaurant which overlooks the green. It has a sophisticated yet airy beach vibe. A short five minute walk and there's a club house with another restaurant, and finally a michelin star restaurant. We ate at two of the restaurants and felt the food was okay. Our accommodations included breakfast which, given the location, was convenient. The breakfast was alright but nothing was made to order.
Overall I truly enjoyed our pampered stay at Palmares and would highly recommend this hotel. As an added touch, the front staff at reception were very helpful and always greeted us...
Read moreWe only booked for a short one-night stay. The hotel only has 20 rooms and is almost what you might call a boutique hotel. In our opinion, the rooms and hotel/decor don't really achieve the feeling of 5* standard that the hotel is listed as. although there was very little wrong and the place was very comfortable. The hooks in the bathroom would spin and hadn't been isntalled properly. Otherwise the room was quite simple and perhaps plain? Outside of the room, the lobby is quite small and the restaurant/bar also simple. The pool outside was nice but not heated. The view however from the balcony of the rooms and from the bar/restaurant is amazing. Overall, it felt like a 4* hotel really, with the view redeeming it. Service however seemed fantastic. On arrival we were greeted and then helped to our rooms by one of the staff. He also explained a few things for us and was there to answer any questions. There were some local sweets left for us and complimentary water which was nice. There is 24hr room service. I'm sure the staff would be very accommodating but we didn't use their service during our stay. Overall we would stay again and the price was good and fair for the...

Palmares Beach House Hotel has a stunning location with incredible views, but it falls short of a true 5-star experience.
The receptionists were friendly, and although our room wasn’t ready until 4 PM, we enjoyed some time on the terrace. However, on the way to the room, we had our first encounter with “Mr. Vacuum Cleaner”, casually leaning against the wall.
The room itself was lovely, with a fantastic view and a spacious terrace. Dinner at the hotel was a highlight — delicious and well-presented. Unfortunately, we also found a spider web near our table (photo attached), which was disappointing for a hotel of this level.
The next morning, we crossed paths with Mr. Vacuum Cleaner again — this time laying on the floor, apparently still sleeping.
Breakfast was the biggest letdown. It was shockingly poor for a 5-star hotel. The options were minimal, and the overall presentation left a lot to be desired (see photos).
While it’s a beautiful hotel, it’s really only worth it for the view. The service and attention to detail need significant improvement to match the...
