Al Sud Palmares — Restaurant in Lagos

We had an outstanding dinner experience last night at this beautiful restaurant overlooking the bay of Lagos. Each one of the ten courses and snacks was amazingly tasteful and a true vision. We particularly enjoyed that everything - including the wonderful wine pairing - was a Portuguese specialty, which was a fantastic ending to our vacation here in Portugal.

What made the experience even more special, however, was the superb service by the restaurant manager/sommelier and his entire team. We have never had nicer servers who seemed to genuinely care about the drinks, the food and the guests they served. Every single one of them was always smiling, being attentive without being imposing, and they found a great balance of giving a relaxed vibe while still being highly professional.

Also, thank you so much for the lovely surprise with the wine, we appreciated your kindness so much.

Overall we couldn‘t have asked for a better last dinner on the Algarve coast. We are already planning to come back to visit you next year - maybe with two well-deserved Michelin...

Outstanding service, awesome views and exquisite food. We chose the 9 moments, which in reality is more like 13 moments when you factor in the 3 "snacks" and amuse bouche, along with the wine pairing. Each pairing and dish had a fascinating told by team members who clearly care. The head chef, Louis, came to chat with us once at the start and once at the end of our meal which was a nice touch. Staff cannot be more helpful and are happy to help with ordering a taxi as well as getting involved in conversation to make the experience more personal. Each of our service staff this evening were equally fantastic, from the sommelier with English family, the chap who looks Oscar Isaac and Beatrice - who was so personable. What an experience !! We had two dinners at "Al Sud" during our vacations ... and I would have loved to go back a third time ! For us , this restaurant is worth a "two michelin stars" when I compare with other experiences we had in other michelin stars restaurants in Europe. The meals are simply wonderful : creativity , "elegance" in the plates , wonderful taste , based on high quality local products (fish, meat,shellfish,vegetables,...) ... and last but not least , wonderful wines . All portuguese wines. It was a discovery for me. The sommelier is a great person : talented , enthusiastic and very friendly with a nice human touch. The whole personnel is wonderful : touch of class , kindness, good sense of humour , professionalism.
