Bar Quim — Restaurant in Lagos

We were disappointed by our first few meals on the Algarve - overpriced and mediocre seafood for tourists (our restaurant selections were based on a lot of research!). We actually ended up eating at The Green Room two times, which is a fun and tasty Mexican restaurant in Lagos.

But Bar Quim was a delight. The setting is superb: right on the sand at Meia Praia, with a beautiful view of the ocean. And the house prawns are prepared in a most expert way. Deliciously savoury, garlicky, with a little spice, and only EUR 12,50 per person. You cannot go wrong ordering these along with a little jug of vinho verde - highly recommended!

Note that the kitchen closes daily at 4pm...

Nice cosy place. We didn't plan to go for lunch. However when we parked and passed by the smell came out from the restaurant was irresistible so we popped in. Although the staff wasn't very welcoming and we were waiting for the table a while, ok this is not a complaint, it was understandable, as they were very busy. We ordered baby squid and tuna salad and it was very tasty. Food arrived at an acceptable time considering the full restaurant. Couldn't complain at all, yet the staff wasn't very welcoming. A service so bad and a staff so rude it felt surreal

I would have loved to put 4 stars (the prawns were delicious) but I was extremely shocked by the rudeness of the staff. The waitress only came to seat us after 10 minutes, without even a hello. When we started to tell her our order, she suddenly left to talk to her colleagues and came back without any apologies ... My friend was about to ask for a drink and she just looked at her and told us to shut up ("shhh").
