Health risk, mold, unhelpful host, avoid this property
We booked this house via Booking.com and paid €1,227.16, but had to leave on the same day, just a few hours after check-in, due to serious issues with visible black mold in multiple areas of the property. There was a strong smell of dampness and mold throughout the house, which posed a serious health risk, especially for our child who suffers from asthma.
We contacted both the owner and Booking.com immediately. The host ignored our messages and told us to “speak to Booking.com.” Despite multiple calls to customer support and hours of waiting, no real solution was offered. We were forced to leave and book an emergency hotel at 2:00 AM, which cost us an additional €750 out of pocket.
After escalating the case, we received a partial refund of about €600,- far from what we paid, and it does not reflect the stress, lost time, or additional costs.
We later discovered that other guests had already left reviews on both Booking.com and Google, warning about mold and dampness. This means the problem was known but ignored, which from my perspective is a form of deception.
I have taken photos of the mold and affected areas and will upload them with this review, so that others don’t fall into the same trap we did. I am currently considering legal action and will be seeking legal advice regarding this situation.
