We were in room 119 with a side view of the pool area on self catering basis. The kitchen was supplied with basic good quality utensils but a definite shortage of electrical sockets, by the side of the sink there was a toaster, kettle and a coffee machine but only 1 socket!! Ample supply of very hot water from a large heater was fantastic. Air conditioning was very efficient and quiet if controlled properly. TV was disappointing CNN and BBC News, the bed was massive and although firm it was comfortable. Daily cleaning was very basic - bed - bathroom- bins and floor swept, the large balcony was never cleaned in the 11 days we were there and the bird droppings stayed on the balcony rail throughout. Strangely there were no placemats available and no coffee table to use while sitting on the settee. The bathroom units need replacing because the basin water had penetrated the frame and it was unsightly, there was a jacuzzi bath and efficient shower and the towels were of good quality. The bar/snacks area was ever so quiet with hardly anyone else using it but the food and prices were very reasonably priced. Pool area- like so many other hotel pools there were not enough sun beds (40) and parasols (14) and again the inconsiderate users reserved theirs by putting towels on them and not using them until after lunchtime even though signs dissuaded this practice it was never adhered to. That’s enough for now but a special mention for the reception staff especially Kate who was adorable and very polite.

Hello for me it’s a good place but really need improvement. Kate at the reception was very nice and also her colleague. I left on sunday morning (12/07) at 8. People were screaming in this hotel and i ve called for that. We expect to sleep when you pay that price. The pool was nice but a lot of insects around and no cleaning. The bed was too hard and painfull (as mentioned by other clients). The lady at the breakfast was not nice and never smiled. She looked so angry to people. The diner was not avalaible after some hours and little choice. The cleaning in my room was also not made. I can clearly wonder how you get 4 stars. This is not what we expect for a 4 stars….. is there any service for luggage or water in the room every day? Even the pool was not clean with ants under pool beds. The price during Afronation increased a lot and it’s not even justified. For me it’s a deception considering the amount we paid. I will not recommend this if you look for a real 4 stars but if you don’t mind, it is ok.. and please change sometimes the breakfast. Always the same thing. Can be boring. Wifi is not avalaible, always broken. (The key is not super ok. You have to try a lot to enter in the room).

3rd time visiting Pelican Alvor which is situated on a quiet road ( don't let that put you off) around 15mins walk to the town centre where all the shops and a fantastic selection of restaurants & bars can be found. Rooms are spacious & clean with all the amenities you need for a holiday. Breakfast has a great selection of cooked, continental, bread's as well a fresh fruit & pasties along with breakfast staff member Miriam who greeted you every morning with a smile. A special thank you to the reception staff especially Iuri & Kate who would always greet you with a welcome smile & anything you needed to know they could always help. Pelican Alvor is one not to be missed you!

This is a beautiful hotel. Spotlessly clean, friendly helpful staff and very peaceful. ||We was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful spacious room. Fully kitted out kitchen. The bed is huge, it is two singles put together but unlike most hotels the bed was made up as one with king-size sheets which I was very pleased with. Most hotels make the single beds up individually then push them together which I hate. There was a television on a swivel stand so you can watch either from your bed or from the lounge area. Although the telly is something that we do not use when on holiday. The door key was a bit tricky and needed a certain knack to open it that we got used to over time. The shower screen leaked and water went all over the floor. I resorted to using the hand towels as well as the foot towel to catch it but we had clean towels every day which was a relief because of the leak. The breakfast was great, lots to choose from including the English egg, bacon, beans, tomatoes, sausage (but not quite sausages more hotdog sausage) once got mushrooms, make your own toast. Fresh fruit and yoghurt, cereals etc. Although not quite hot but I've never come across a hotel breakfast that does nothing but luke warm food.||The bar was manned by some lovely friendly young men. Ruben was great. The grounds were well cared for and mowed regularly. The pool was nice and great for some proper swimming. This was October so only one or 2 children there. There was plenty of sunbeds, most of them empty but don't know what it's like in high season. There was some building work going on next door to the pool but there was no noise coming from it while we were there. The best thing about the pool was the peace. There was no noisy kids blasting out their rubbish music from their phones infact there was no music at all which is just perfect for me, just as I like it. However on the down side there was no pool bar. There is a small wood cabin that used to be a pool bar until it was deemed unfit for use anymore and shut down which is a shame. If only a small investment to reopen it for drinks and snacks I'm sure that in summer months the costs would be reimbursed. ||My biggest concern was the lack of a life guard. The hotel has a duty of care but not adhered to here. In other countries it would be law but not here it seems. In peak times it would be absolutely necessary while lots of children there, but even out of season like when we were there and the pool is quiet, a lady collapsed on her sunbed and there was no lifeguard who would have a walkie-talkie or phone to call for help and would be trained in CPR . This lady had to be pulled off the sunbed onto the grass and CPR was started by a friend and a man who was on holiday with his wife. An old man went to go up the grassy hill and up the steps to ask reception to call an ambulance. Too long. When things turned serious I (66) ran to reception to tell the emergency services that it's now more serious and she has stopped breathing. CPR was continued for a further 15 minutes until the ambulance crew took over. Then some more advanced paramedics arrived and started to shock her. The hotel manager came and stood at a distance on the grassy hill and started filming on his phone until he was shouted at by a family member to show some respect. Eventually a doctor arrived and pronounced her dead when they covered her up. A lot of time was wasted because there was no trained staff on duty at the pool. We was asked to leave the area while they took the body away. Next day Ruben came round the pool asking if anyone would like a drink. This was the first time that a member of staff had done that and so we was under the impression it was on the house because of the distressing scene the day before. But when we was checking out we found it was added to our bill. 🤦‍♀️||This is a lovely hotel in a great location but I have marked it down a star because of the lack of safety which resulted in such a devastating...

We came here for the first time and couldn’t get over how peaceful this place is we’re so used to busy resorts that we didn’t think this sort of place existed it took a couple of days to get used to but it was perfect! We arrived just after midday and knew we wouldn’t be able to check in til 4pm like most places but I went to to the desk at 1:30pm and was told our room was ready which was amazing as we were tired and wanted to get changed and relax. The rooms are massive with a fully functioning kitchen and even a dishwasher and espresso machine and a bottle of water in the room, the beds were huge and quite comfy with the added luxury of a quilt rather than just sheets which was a really nice touch especially when you fall asleep with the aircon blasting 🫣 the balcony was also really big with sliding doors going full length of the room the bathroom had a jacuzzi bath which was nice although a bit noisy I only used it once for this reason but again another nice touch, the staff are all really lovely and take time to chat to you when bringing food and drink, breakfast was a choice of hot breakfast or continental with a good choice of cereals, breads, meat, cheese, fruit, pastries etc the fresh orange was lovely not watery juice like a lot of places we’ve been to, the bar snack menu has a good variety and everything is served like your eating at a fine restaurant the club sandwich is amazing the grounds are beautifully kept and very pleasing on the eye. There was never an issue with sun beds in fact a couple of times we were the only ones around the pool in a morning if you want a relaxing peaceful break away from it all then this is the place the only down side is the bar shuts really early so if you enjoy a night cap you won’t be having it at the hotel but it wouldn’t put me off staying again it’s in a great location about a 15 min walk from the shops and restaurants and a little supermarket 5 minutes down the road. just the quiet is sheer heaven I don’t think I’ll ever get over that 😂 thank you pelican Alvor for...
