After spending 5 nights in Lisbon, we took the train to Porto. The train journey was good as we prebooked for first class which was cheaper than second class. |Arriving at Porto Campanha train station, we took the Metro to Carolina Michaelis stop, and walk 5mins to the guest house.|We were greeted warmly by a lady who only speak Portuguese & French, but she was so lovely and we managed to understand each other thanks to Google Translate. The booking.com package did not include breakfast, but due to the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor, we decided to pay extra for breakfast. |At this point the lady showed us the sightseeing map and told us we could buy tickets from the guesthouse us necessary.|The room was spacious enough with all the mod cons, has a fridge, flat screen tv, and air con. Hair dryer is available upon request. The bathroom/shower room is also pretty spacious and the shower cubile has several settings which I must say it's LUXURIOUS.|We did buy the sightseeing tour bus from the guesthouse reception, which is a voucher you exchange for tickets when you go on the bus. The guesthouse is located around 25minutes walk from Porto Centre, or you can catch the Metro which will take you 15minutes. We walked mostly, even late at night, as we felt very safe walking around the city.|Now the breakfast - it was as excellent as all the review, coffee machine, freshly squeezed fruit juice, many different types of cereals, cheese, ham, even bread rolls, and a toaster. Scrammble eggs, bacon & sausages are also available too. We'd never really found out what time breakfast finishes, as the ladies keep topping up even at 10:30am. All I shall say, is that I throughoutly enjoy the as much as you can eat breakfast, both in quality and in quantity.|Our flight is late in the afternoon, and after checking out, the guesthouse is happy to look after your suitcases so that you can explore the city until last minute. Again, you can catch the metro to the airport like we did, and it took less than 40minutes door to door.|Lastly I would just like to thank all the ladies at the guest house, we had a lovely time in Porto and would definitely recommend this establishment to everyone. Thank you for...
Read moreWhen we booked the room 3 months in advance, I thought the owner of the guesthouse was very considerate as she recommended us to switch rooms because we booked a room with a slanted roof and my boyfriend is 2m tall. However, we agreed on switching to a room with a bath (as we had a spa bath in the original booked room), but when we arrived, we were told that the guests in that room decided to stay a night longer, so we just had to accept another room on the ground floor with a shower. I had a horrible night there. The room was situated at the street side, so it was noisy and it was a very light room (due to the headlights of the cars passing by and street lantarns), it did not have a proper curtain. In addition, the shower was very small and I found hairs in the bathroom and bed (maybe from the housekeeper?). In addition, the lady that was mainly at the desk could not speak English and everytime we had a question, she had to call over a colleague. All in all, I was happy to move to the originally booked room a day later. It was cleaner, the bathroom was more spacious and we were situated on the backside of the building. However, the double bed was the smallest one we have had in our two-week holiday (and we stayed at 7 different locations). Nevertheless, the location of the guesthouse is good as it is a 10-minute walk to two metro stations and the room price was acceptable. However, due to our experience with the first room I cannot give the guesthouse more than...
Read moreO'Porto Seven is a Bed&Breakfast located in close distance to the Porto city centre (2 Metro stations/ 5 Min walk from the station).
My room was clean and consisted of a TV, an adjustable window and air conditioning. The owners were really friendly and did not hesitate to help me, when I had any queries.
The breakfast had a great variation to choose from. You can start your day off with selfmade bread, toast, baguette or cornflakes. You may also have bacon and eggs. There are various types of cheese, ham, salami and marmelade. On top of that the guest house offers selfmade joghurts and several types of donuts. You can also select between many kinds of fruits. The coffee and orange juice were really good aswell.
I would recommend this Guesthouse to anyone, who is searching for a reasonable...
