Casa da Lagariça — Hotel in Sabugal

We stayed a single night while doing a bike tour between historic towns in the area. The location is great, easy to find and within crawling distance of the sights and the restaurants. The accommodation was good with a fully fitted kitchen in the event we wanted to do our own cooking. Beds were comfortable and the standard of the house was good.||||The host was very friendly and helpful, calling ahead to book a table for us at a recommended restaurant a small distance away. ||||The breakfast the next morning was plentiful and the jams on offer provided a challenge to test all:)||||We stored our bikes behind the house overnight which certainly felt safe enough, and we didn't actually ask if there was somewhere to lock them up for the night.||||I would recommend this place as a base to...

We arrived on a wet and windy afternoon only to find no one there. After 20 minutes and a phone call our hostess arrived to open up and turn on the heating. Given the weather it was a pity that she had not done this in the morning as the house remained cold all evening. Note that the hostess speaks French, understands Spanish but not English. The stone cottage has two bedrooms but the living room, satisfactory for two, would have been cramped for four. The place was clean, bedroom comfortable and well equipped for cooking. Antica casa in pietra, sita nel suggestivo abitato di Sortelha, fuori dal nucleo storico circondato dalle mura, che è comunque raggiungibile con una bella passeggiata.||Molto ben restaurata, la casa conserva comunque il fascino delle antiche case medievali, con un patio esterno che può venir utilizzato come parcheggio; la gentile proprietaria abita nella casa posta dietro l’alloggio, ove accoglie gli ospiti per la colazione del mattino. Piccolo inconveniente, comunque superabile con un po’ di impegno e disponibilità, è che la signora parla esclusivamente portoghese.||Veniamo alla casa… varcata la soglia, si entra in un ampio ambiente che costituisce il salone con cucina e caminetto, completo di divano, tavolo con due panche e alcune sedie, TV, e l’occorrente per prepararsi i pasti (piatti, pentole, bicchieri, stoviglie, e forno a microonde). Da tale ambiente si accede alle due camere matrimoniali, arredate con mobili dall’aspetto antico, con letti ampi ed abbastanza comodi; tutte le pareti sono in pietra viva, che viene ricavata dal granito di cui è ricco il territorio.||Bagno sufficientemente ampio e funzionale, con una doccia efficiente, ed una dotazione di asciugamani morbidi e confortevoli.||Il sonno è stato assolutamente ristoratore, regnando nel paese una pace assoluta che ci ha regalato un relax totale.||Il mattino dopo, la signora ha preparato per noi una colazione eccellente, con parte dei prodotti fatti in casa; pane, burro, marmellate, caffè fumante, latte, prosciutto cotto, formaggio, succo d’arancia, ed una buonissima torta fatta in casa.||Un soggiorno rivelatosi quanto mai piacevole, che mi sento di...
