I thought I had booked a simple hostel, with some additional yoga classes. But it is so much more than that!
The terrain reminds me of a campsite. Besides (solo) travellers, many families with children also stay there, so it is very lively. You have a supermarket, coffee shop, several super cute food trucks with different cuisines (Thai, Sushi, Pizza, Burgers, etc), a yoga studio and a kitchen where you can cook your own meals.
Well located, just outside Sintra in a village called Colares. A few metres away is a bus stop that takes you to Sintra in 20 minutes for less than €3. You have several beautiful beaches within walking distance, where you can also book surfing lessons.
Despite being lively, there are plenty of places to retreat to. At the back of the site, for instance, you'll find several wooden decks. Here you can meditate, do yoga, read or just chill. This was my favourite part of the hostel.
The rooms are fine. The lockers are not super big, so you will only be able to put your valuables under lock and key, not a suitcase or backpack. The room can be locked and you are provided with a light and power outlet. The toilet and shower are separate areas. Should it be too occupied, you also have plenty of separately located toilets and showers where you can do your thing. Our shower water was cold from midday. I don't know if this is always the case or just a matter of bad timing, but I personally didn't suffer much.
The staff is immensely friendly and helpful. For questions about the public transport, facilities etc you can just go to them and they are happy to help you.
Finally, there is a co-working space. I didn't use this, but it's great if you're a digital nomad! The wifi was great too.
Overall: Great location, beautiful terrain with lots of amenities, good staff, great room. More than worth your money if you want to enjoy tranquillity...
Read moreWe stayed a week here and we had a really good time. Our room was next to the chill area and at first. I was a bit nervous because it may be noisy at night, talked to the very kind girl in reception and she assured us that at night it was really quiet and not to worry and indeed each night we had no issues sleeping. We used the shared kitchen to make our breakfast each morning and the kitchen is equipped with everything you may need, you can also use the shared fridge where we kept it things and no one touched them. We stayed in a private room with a private bathroom and it was perfect for what we needed it for, the only thing I would add is to add a small closet or armoire as the room lacked storage. Lastly, this place is great for dogs and kids. We went with our dog and he had a great time, he was greeted by everyone in the morning when we went to the kitchen to make breakfast and generally all throughout the area. The only place that didn’t allow him in was there sushi restaurant but if you grab a table outside there is no issues. Also, the vibe of the place is super great, the people are really chill and nice. There are a lot of young people and families but there’s no party atmosphere as I read in other comments. The food trucks and the restaurants close at 22h so there’s no troubles of noise coming from there. The last night we stayed here there was a concert nearby in town which we heard but that’s not the fault of oasis. Overall really great stay and thank you having us with our dog Milo! Forgot to mention that the staff could not be friendlier and kind. We will come...
Read moreI thoroughly enjoyed my experience here. This hostel-campsite is managed so well, everything is kept and maintained very well. The receptionist Tania was amazing, she was so kind and helpful, she knew the answer to all my questions about the services available at the campsite and in the surrounding area. I enjoyed the yoga class, thanks Pedro! Its a short 10-15 walk to either beaches and the beautiful old tram (to sintra) passes by directly outside the campsite, not very often, but its a cool journey. The public bus service was on-time the first time i used it, and 1.5 hours late the next time. The common services are good, the kitchen is nice, there´s a nice lounge where myself and some friends would have our own drinks, the hostel is social. There´s good restaurants (average price) and an excellent supermarket on site. They have a nice co-working space which is at reception if you want to work, which wasn´t included in my hostel stay but it seemed reasonable, the internet connection at the lounge was enough for my bit of work- document editing, wifi not great at lounge. You also gotta check out the breakfasts at their cafe, they´re amazing and vegan. I did the beautiful trek to Cabo De Roca from the hostel, theres a trail all the way, spectacular sea cliff views....
