I stayed at this hotel for two nights in May 2019. On balance, it is a good choice. ||||Positives:||- location, in the ‘civic center’ of the city, whereby most interesting sites are accessible on foot. There are beautiful views of the mountains which appear as they were next door, and overviews of the city;||- courteous and efficient staff;||- sturdy furniture which is clean and dependable, with good bedding and a large selection of TV channels. Rooms are on the average to spacious side, and many include balconies. The hotel is quiet and well insulated. There is sufficient storage space as well as armchairs and a good desk to work at. ||||Breakfast is ok with the usual scrambled eggs, sausages, some sandwich ingredients, croissants, coffee and juice, replenished often. The minibar is basic with water and soda. ||||Where they could improve is:||- the shower, which features fixed head only. This is problematic, as it creates comfort, accessibility and practicality issues, and denotes a low-cost thinking;||- toiletries, consisting of a small soap and a little pouch of would-be shampoo. You can buy extra from reception or next door at the non-stop shop, but again it shows skimping on an essential which it would not be hard to provide properly. ||||Nonetheless it is a dependable option for Baia Mare, I slept soundly and I...
Read moreThe hotel is well-located but looks quite run down. The big problem, however, is the management, more exactly the owner. I stayed there for a couple of nights in mid-September 2022 on a business trip. We're talking about the north of Romania, so it gets cold that time of the year, especially at night. However, the heating was broken in the entire building. On the first day, we were told that they know it's broken but hadn't fixed it yet because they hadn't expected the cold to come so soon... This defies commons sense: why not fix the heating BEFORE the cold comes (which, as I said, tends to come around the same time each year) and not when the cold has already come?!? We asked, as an alternative, for electric radiators but they didn't have any. I suggested they could buy some from the money that their customers pay to get a basic level of comfort, which would include heating at night. The staff was polite but powerless about this, as they also had to wear several jumpers to face the cold during their shift. They called the owner of the hotel, who was out of town and who refused to provide any solution to the problem. That's simply unacceptable and I fully recommend people to avoid this hotel at any cost. Greedy businessmen like him should be fined by competent...
Read moreThe apartment was okay, well equipped with AC. However, even though they sent us a message that our actual apartment was not at the hotel location, we had to do check-in at the hotel before we could get to our apartment, which was not near the hotel. Without a car, this would have been even more tiring than it already was. Also, after we were told that the apartment was on the 4th floor, I had to ask myself if there was an elevator, which there was not. So we had to carry a bunch of luggage with twins and a small child (2.5 years old) to the 4th floor without an elevator. They could have told us beforehand that there was no elevator when we booked the apartment 2 months in advance. They knew we were coming with 2 babies and a...
