From the kind, helpful friendly English-speaking Maria at check-in to the staff on duty the following day, I can't state enough favorable things about this wonderful find. The 5-bed dorm room was comfortable and warm, the pillow was amazingly soft and fluffy and the bunks made of solid wood. Large lockers are in a separate room, and can hold packs of varying sizes. There were four sinks in the ladies room, three separated toilet rooms and a room with three showers (w/curtains). Plenty of space for all. ||||The large common area was comfortable with couches and a coffee table, and smelled heavenly - a room deodorizer or fresh flowers, whatever it was, I wanted to spend all my time there. :-) The guesthouse is close to everything: the nearby town squares, the churches and the tall stone tower, cafes and bars, and all manners of restaurants. It is about 3 kilometers from the bus/train stations, an easy, flat walk. ||||WIFI was strong and appeared to work in the dorm room as well as the common area.||||Free parking on site for those with own vehicles.||||||It didn't bother me so much but this may impact future guests: Speaking only from the point of view of someone who stayed in the 5-bed dorm, the motion sensor light in the hallway outside the glass dorm door flooded the room with light every time someone walked by (which seemed to happen an awful lot on the weekend nights I stayed). Perhaps a suggestion would be to have the ability of hanging up a thick curtain or blanket on the inside of the door to keep out the light? Just...
Read moreI stayed at Casa Rasu for one night during my solo-expedition in the Maramures area. Baia Mare is the starting point for discovering the region and it's a nice and lively city with beautiful and restored city centre.||Casa Rasu is literally few steps from the main square (Piata Millenium) so you cannot find a better location. In addition, the pension is in a nice ancient building which has been restored in a proper way. The rooms are big and extremely clean and scented with wooden beams and a really cozy atmosphere. The price is also very good, considering the quality of the rooms. The standard ones cost 100RON, which is around 22€ (double room).||The only down-side are that the staff is a bit unfriendly and kind of cold. I've asked when back from my bike trip to use a bathroom to clean my hands and they said it was not possible. Also, there is no breakfast included, neither the possibility to get it under payment. So you need to find a place outside (I suggest the Sandwich House in Strada Gheorghe Șincai)||All in all a perfect solution if you wish to stay in the city centre and you are...
Read moreStayed there two nights. The host was very nice, expecting us until very late in the evening, when we arrived. The room was quite large, basically two rooms. The bathroom was verrrrrry little, and needed a bit of a hand on it. There were no windows, except a small one from the bathroom. The linens were quite old. And old the rugs are a bit old-fashioned. They have a parking lot inside, but it is very small. No food can be ordered, as they don't have it included in the offer. As a plus, it is very near...
