Hotel Palas Mamaia — Hotel in Constanta Metropolitan Area

DO NOT COME HERE! This hotel is a scam, description does not match the reality!

Came here for 1 night on 1st of June 2024.

Pros: -Good location, right in the middle of Mamaia strip. 5 minutes walking from the beach. -Reception lobby looks impressive... but just to lure you in.

Cons: -After passing the reception, interior looks like from soviet union time. -Swimming pool out of order, even has no water inside. In the same time pool of neighbouring hotel Zenyth worked well, so can't blame the start of the season. -Hotel internet connection is poor. My phone internet connection didn't work inside (i have a 5G, which worked perfectly outside). -Booked a single bed double room with suite bath, received a twin-bed room with shower, which has some bowl-like tub that fits a dog at best. -Went to reception to ask to return money, so we can leave to another hotel and that request was refused, even though on the booking page was stated free cancellation at any time. Instead administrator offered upgrade to double room with suite bath... which was booked initially. -Hot water is more like a luke warm water on the hottest position, so bath tub was just useless decoration. Pressure in the shower is really low and to get washed it is necessary to lean the body against the wall, since shower head is stationary. -Breakfast is not a buffet. Just got asked if i want omelette or boiled egg. In Germany similar breakfast is in a 2 star hotels: piece of bread, some spread, drink, few pieces of baloony, a bit vegetables. -The yard between restaurant and swimming pool looks like a construction yard. Tiles removed from the ground and there are holes in the yard floor. -Place is almost empty and leaves a feeling of a ghost town... which may be good if you like privacy.

Conclusion: I came with my girl 400 km to this place to enjoy 1 day at 4 star hotel and have some nice time at the swimming pool. So good we only booked 1 night, was nothing to do here. I thought 4 star hotel should be kind of attraction by itself, where you can have a small get away. This place is not what it claims to be, not worth coming. Only came here to sleep and go away, no any entertainment. Hotel Palas - scam, lie and mood killer. Never come back to Mamaia. If rating could be minus 4*, that...

It's rated 4 stars, mainly due to outdoor pool, I guess. It's not worth 4 stras, in my oppinion. As plus: location; Also, staff is friendly, with some exceptions -two ladies in breakfast area, in charge with "supervising" coffee machines like customers are supposed to be very stupid and not able to press several buttons. -they have all kind of outdated rules, closed bar forever, not able to order a coffee before they open the breasfast option, you are not allowed to drink bear at the pool or anything in a glass, they will provide some plastic glasses, too small for even a 330ml bear, for instance. The pool closes at 6 p.m....although, in summer at other 4 stars hotel you may stay later. -breakfast is ok, not great variety and it is the same every day, when you arrive at the mid point of breakfast time, if you can't find all sortiments and you ask for it, they reply in a disturbed voice that they will bring you some, eggs, for instance, "if there is any left"... -poorly taste in music, a CD playing all the time, bathroom towels in very bad shape, could use a replacement, no minibar, although there is a minifridge running and examples can continue; friendly cleaning staff and from those in charge with accommodation, but would not come back again as for the same money 475ron/night with breakfast included), one can find...

I was very happy for booking this amazing hotel. The room vith sea view was the best choice as I was there with my parents and sister's family. We had 3 rooms in total and we were able to stay together and have a drink or enjoy the view on the very big terace.Each room has access to the shared terrace (very big and with so much beach furniture). Our room was clean, big, air con was working fine and there is a small fridge too. ||Breakfast was very good, excellent choice and something different every morning. ||Sunbeds included for free but if you want to be near the sea you have to make sure you wake up earlier in the morning. ||The lady at the reception was very kind and polite.||Just a strange thing: we had to check-out at 5am and I have spoken to the receptionist (not the same girl from the check-in day) regarding booking a taxi for 4.30 in the morning. Her answer was quite strange: I can't call a taxi for you because I don't have money on the phone and we are not allowed to call from the reception!!! Well this waa very strange. As a result I had to wake up my Mum and Dad around 4am to book the taxi using their phone.||I recommend the hotel and I will book again if back...
