Hotel Rexton — Hotel in Craiova Metropolitan Area

I have never written a hotel review before but after the experience we've just had I'd like to warn others from making the same mistake. ||Firstly, this place is nowhere near 4 stars. I've been fortunate to have travelled quite extensively for business and pleasure and I realize standards vary country to country, but nowhere on this planet does this place deserve 4 stars or its ridiculous high rating on this site and others.||We booked 2 rooms for 2 nights as we were in Craiova to attend a wedding. We found out on arrival that by coincidence the Hotel Rexton was hosting a wedding itself. Romanian weddings tend to go on long into the night and at the Hotel Rexton the music stopped at 3am, which, as I was subsequently informed by the Manager, we were lucky it wasn't later. After driving from Constanta for 6 hours was nice that the Manager reminded me we were lucky enough to get the chance to sleep! Did I mention we were on the 4th floor? Loud would be an understatement. Still on the bright side, my 3 year old son now understands the benefits of getting a good night's sleep. Lesson learned - check.||Sunday morning was our introduction to Rexton 4 star dining. The Breakfast buffet is a lame affair with not much on offer - similar in many ways to the Owner who we'll get to later. If you plan on eating, go at 6:30am because restocking the buffet line once the first servings are taken is not on the cards. But the drunken wedding attendees who were still lingering had the right game plan. Drink all night, don't sleep, and hit the buffet as soon as they open. You're drunk! Taste doesn't matter!||On the bright side the rooms themselves are nice enough although be aware, if you stay over the weekend on Sunday's you have to clean the room yourself! The cleaner you see has a different schedule on Sunday's and only does a couple of hours "work". Small inconvenience not having your room cleaned. Look at it like camping. 4 star camping.||After speaking with the Manager to voice my disappointment at getting no sleep the first night and our rooms not being cleaned the whole stay she offered to cut the salaries of those responsible. Nice lady! But the icing on the cake is the Owner who I got the fantastic opportunity to speak to during check out. His hotel is far above 4 stars he told me - via his translator - and we would pay in full for our stay as much worse things could have happened. I only wish they might have happened prior to arriving thereby preventing us from ever staying in this dump.||Don't stay here. You've been warned. The only redeeming feature is the nice guy at the Front Desk who tried his best to help and was very polite. This is the worst hotel I have...

I've traveled the world for business and pleasure for 20+ years. Needless to say, I've been to some crazy places and have stayed at every level of of hotel from 0 to 5. The Rexton Hotel and staff from the minute I walked in the door I felt at home. Me feeling at home when I'm staying somewhere is absolute key. I stayed at the hotel for 3.5 weeks, so I'm coming from a place of a multiple night experience and can speak with confidence in my review. |The rooms were clean and well kept. If I had a complaint it would be the shower. But I'm a tall broad shouldered guy, so getting a shower that works well is not the easiest to begin with. |The absolute icing on the cake was their gym. This is by far the best "hotel" gym I've ever seen. I wouldn't even denigrate it by calling it a "hotel" gym. The set up and equipment they've got is better than some gyms I've been to. And, right next to the gym is a legit sauna. I'm talking 190*+f legit. Incredible for a hotel in my opinion. |The staff Wana, and Jennifer, were amazing, friendly, and the perfect "face" of the company. I truly appreciated the attention they showed me, even on days when the place was sold out they still made sure I have whatever it was I needed. |So if you're lucky enough to find yourself in Craiova, great city to find yourself in, do yourself a favor and book your stay...

I stayed here for 8 days recently on a business trip. Very nice hotel. Staff was very accomadating and always professional. The room is large, very comfortable and well appointed. Maid service everyday was great. Breakfast every morning in the restaurant was great. Large variety of food both hot and cold. In the evenings the outdoor section of the restaurant was great. The wait staff was excellent, the menu was diverse, the food was great and the prices were even better. The hotel is a 15 min walk to old town were there are lots of restaurants and shops. Small shopping mall in the same old town area as well. 15 min walk to train station as well. Several convenience stores within a 2 min walk to get any items you may need for your stay or for a quick snack in your room. Approximately 18 parking spaces for guests and everything is monitored by security camera 24 hours a day. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend this hotel for anyone...
