The Mera Onix hotel experience, in a nutshell - A hotel for families with kids, who likes loud and crowded vacations.
The hotel has dedicated parking included, no issues there.
The rooms are fresh, clean and has small but decent balconies. The bathrooms are nice and the water pressure in the showers is excellent. The water temperature for showers is responsive. The AC works well. No strange smells. Good cleaning service and good room wifi.
In the all-inclusive package there're three main meals and two in-between snacks. You can definitely stay very full all day if you wish to. The food is distributed in a cantina that is swarmed by the guests when the cantina doors are opened. You can choose between a few options and there's always salads and pasta available. I can't say the food is of any significance, which is a shame. If this cantina existed in my home city, I would never go there to eat. I haven't gotten sick from the food during my five days here, so I don't doubt that the food is of fair quality, but if you're looking forward to eat well during your vacation - this is not the place for you.
The beach is a decent private beach. You need to wade about 50 meters out into the sea to reach deeper water than to your waist. You will need water shoes because the bottom is full of large rocks. Sun beds and parasols are included, it was not hard to find a spot on the beach every day.
The sea was mostly full of kids unless you go out a bit further.
Near the cantina is the hotel pool. It looks nice in pictures. Honestly I did not even try to get into the pool because it was completely full of children from 7 in the morning till closing time. I was too concerned with the sanitary conditions of the pool to give it a go.
Next to the eating area is a scene where, every evening, there's some kind of performance and event. What this means is that during dinner and late into the evening, the volume is very loud. You will not be able to eat dinner while having a conversation. Imagine you're eating in a night club, but for children. You can avoid this by eating fast and then escaping around the corner to have an ice cream in the area by the pool. The ice creams are a very nice touch (also included).
I did not open my wallet once during my stay - all is included. This is a great plus.
If the music during the evening was lower or optional somehow, I would have given this a 4 star, even if it's not my style of vacation, but people who don't mind a crowd and have kids they might...
Read moreTraveled in different places and would say for a country such as Romania is it alright to spend a short holiday due to the prices ( high) the resort is concentrated mostly for the guests to spend quality time with their kids, resort is devided in two parts as per the staff stating the main one is for ,,normal guests meaning they are booked at the renovated hotel which dates back 30+years, the second one is for the ,,special ones,, as they have accommodations in villas , ( bigger rooms, no more than 1 floor high) Meals: for a all inclusive you will have a diversity in meals but not great and deserts are a number of 3 options wich was counted across several days. You will have kids options and options across the days ,downside ,is rationalised and not enough for all as there is only one buffet. Drinks are served across the day ,spirits are served at certain intervals but a massive downfall is that at 10 closed and for a all inclusive there is a bar where you have to pay! WHAT A JOKE!; ROOMS : are kept clean ,clean towels daily, there will be allocated x2 bottle of water ( still) per room , the rooms are very clean, up to date, a lovely insight ,and I'm referring only go the villas. Meal service: the not so experienced young staff only collect the plates but not wiping them before other guests can sit and serve. On very warm days the restaurant manager declined in opening the sliding windows for no reason and there for you had to serve in extreme heat and smell of food. Pool area: no first aider, a lot of rules , warm , nice water.MASSIVE DOWNSIDE which put me off here is that when asking why in the area for the,, rich ,, the sound volume was low the staff told me that this is the request of some rich chaps that could not understand eachother , I've told them that the pool is a communal area ,but the books were done allready. A MASSIVE JOKE. there is plenty to say but will stop here. Overall future wise will not be coming back, same price would go to other countries where staff are friendly and...
Read moreWe had a family vacation at the beginning of August (4 rooms, 2 for 7 nights and 2 for 10) and we paid about 10.000 € in total, with all inclusive. The rooms were nice, although besides the bed there is not much space. Everything was very clean and the service ladies were nice and helpful. All other spaces like the terrace, restaurant and pool were also clean. I am personally not a fan of all inclusive, as it is pretty wasteful, but I must say they really made efforts to offer variation in the menu and also new courses everyday. The personnel provided refills on all food as soon as they were empty. Great coffee and plenty of drinks. The daily concerts were extremely loud; I guess the sound engineers didn’t take into account how close to the stage people are sitting. They have a private beach and a beach bar, but there were in the midst of a huge construction project so no sand, stones on the beach and in the water and very dangerous not marked holes in the water in one of which my father hurt his leg. Because of the beach situation, the pool was extremely crowded. The surroundings of the hotel consist of construction sites and the Cap Aurora holiday village is desolating. We went to Vama Veche for several days just to enjoy a normal beach and be able to swim in the sea. I wish the hotel had warned us beforehand of the beach situation, but all in all, it was manageable. Still, I think that we would have gotten better overall conditions for the paid money in...
