Hotel Miraj — Hotel in Râmnicu Vâlcea

Three-star hotel this ain’t. The location is great and the rooms were clean. I got the same at Motel 6 and that’s a 1.5 star.

The hotel claims to have AC, but when I asked about the thermostats (yes there are two) in the room, I was told they didn’t work and that I was supposed to “open a window if I wanted to cool down”. My room was never below 25 °C (77F) and often as high as 27 C (80 F) The open window strategy resulted in smells from the restaurant and smoke from people smoking below come in.

The WiFi bounced between a decent 10-15 Mbps, but often and for longer periods of time it was less that 0.5 Mbps.

The bed covers were shorter than the bed by about 2-3 inches on either side. The bed was comfortable, but made of two full size beds, on wheels, pushed together and they’d would have a tendency to separate.

Over all not a terrible place if you’re a person that sleeps in 78F heat, otherwise… I’d find a...

The hotel is clean and cozy. I had a double room at the 3rd floor, with a nice view and all comfort. Free and good wifi, big screen flat TV, not full HD, but with HDMI port (so, bring your Chromecast, you might use it, as the Internet is good enough). The location is excelent, in a nice calm neighborhood, next to the Christian Orthodox Archbishopric of Ramnic. At 10 minutes walk, you can find the River Plaza Mall. The breakfast is good, buffet type, and the personnel is nice and polite. For travellers without a car, it is important to say that the intercity Bus station is at only 25 minutes walk. I stayed one weekend at Miraj in June 2019 and the overall experience was very nice. It is located in a quiet area in the city centre, very green and airy, with easy access to the main points of interest in the city. The hotel is small and cosy, very clean, rooms are spacious and have wood flooring not carpet, bathrooms are big. You can have a good night sleep with the window opened.
