Preface this by starting I'm a retired CHA and a certified hotel health and safety program auditor. The only things about this hotel that are "by design" are guest dissatisfaction and elusive management.||Exterior style, interior lacking in substance. Totally lacking in a service culture - a top-down deficit originating in absentee or invisible management that has no expertise in hospitality administration or etiquette. Ask to speak to the manager and the response is that they arrive between 930 and 10, and then disappear by 4 (it took 2 days and a 2 hour lobby wait to get a response that confirmed the GM had been apprised of the avalanche of deficits but totally ignored acknowledging or doing anything about it, least of all coming out of hiding from his ivory tower). Staff are left to make shallow and illogical excuses for the pervasive ineptitude respecting hotel standards. Staying here is an exercise in regret unless you are a Boca fanatic - even then, a photo in the lobby should satisfy that, without expending accommodation dollars on an amateur hotel supposedly representing a respected professional team.||There are so many shortcomings, you have no choice but to leave and cut your losses, accept the mediocrity, or be perpetually stressed. A property designed by an architect who has no concept of what a functional hotel entails. Less than 10 years old, tubs in the 3 rooms we stayed in ranged from being gouged out as if a murder by icepack took place, to cigarette burnt edges. This, we were told apologetically by the desk manager, was "the best room available after checking them all"||Reception||Damaged entry door||Security guard disguised as doorman in suit while staff wear rumpled pyjama tops||Lumpy couch with gouged drywall behind ||Staff drowning in sea of luggage arbitrarily enforcing 3 pm check-in rule||Elevators which won't take more than 4 passengers - limit states 375 lbs (mom and dad with 2 toddlers is max)||One key per room ("we don't have enough") despite electricity being key-enabled||No USB port, no alarm clock, no business centre ||No services guide in room (1 of 3 had a tiny card with tiny don't andminimal info)||No info on check-in about room temp control and in-room instructions in English that are nonapplicable to the system, as it is controlled by the desk with your only option being noisy and on or off and as stifling as the halls - some rooms set at 19 able others at 20||Desk chair frayed with no desk lamp except one floor lamp which had to be dragged across the scratched and worn wooden floors of you wanted light in the sitting area||No irons or boards available - they foolishly charge - 2 tiny drawers in the closet with only 5 hangers||A 1 square inch bar of soap for shared use as hand and bath soap||Mildew and mold in grout and silicone||Nonfunctioning bathroom vents||Poorly lit bathroom||Open floor drain that gurgles and burps when draining, smelling of mold (it's covered by the singular waste bin for the entire room - the first room had browned paper stuck to theinside of the lid)||Wooden toilet seats that are chipped and worn||Bedspread with stains decorated with old and worn pillow shams and throw||Lounge chairs in room encrusted with food||Stained sheers with black finger marks on blackout curtains that didn't close properly||Room 2 had a heavy stench of smoke (when asked about whether the guest floors had been previously designated as smoking we were told that hotel is "smoke-free"and offenders are charged a one-night fee, however, room is not cleaned to reflect the charge as the hotel uses as a revenue grab)||No electricity adapters to loan guests ("we used to but we stopped for some reason") - when asked where we could get one sent 5 blocks to a store that spent sell them; they sent us to another store - they're cheap and thehotel could sell them for a small profit if they didn't want to lend them but that would require a desire to provide customer service||No info at check-in about facilities, breakfast hours, dining room (staff embarrassed?)||Unappealing bar||Boring breakfast replete with sugary cereals, sweet pastries and cookies (best to go late as day old is the fare first thing in the morning)||Service staff emulate the aloofness of management rarely engaging with guests||All 3 floors we were put on had stale dark foyers that reked of air freshener and stake cigarettes with no air circulation and/or filthy vents||2 days of ladder stored in stairwells (perhaps a fireman from FDNY staying in hotel abused them of the hazard)||Irritatingly overstarched sheets that didn't fit properly||Some staff show potential but any hopes of a successful career will be blighted by the unprofessional management/ownership. Melanie and Clarissa are fine examples but need polish and finesse that would comes from qualified and competent guidance - disappointed in personable but evasive Miguel who advised no manager, assistant manager, or duty manager - 2 days later was advised that he was duty manager - being reluctant to disclose your rank in the organization is a sure sign that they are blog empowered to make decisions to effect service recovery. The GM's approach is to ignore customers and their issues in the hopes that they'll go away. Instead relying on what can only be fraudulent positive reviews. The disgust inn this mismanaged property is professional and credible - these guests and industry professionals, embarrassed by this shoddily run property certainly won't be...
Read moreEverything! The shower didn't have a door or a wall and so the water was all over the bathroom's floor which, guess what? Did not have a draining system. So it basically turned the bathroom floor into a lake. When I asked for a solution, I've been told that this is the hotel's design and there's nothing to do about it. I have been told that my expectations are too high due to the fact that I travel a lot and that Romanians don't complain or seem to be bothered by having a lake in their bathroom!!!! Eventually we've been given another room, with a proper shower cabin this time but the air conditioning was barely working. The breakfast was very poor and products of low quality and no toaster! Can you imagine, a hotel without a toaster? I find it ridiculous. ||Also, though the booking was for two, we only had towels and such for one. Everything seemed like a bad joke. We only stayed 2 nights and the second night we had to leave at 4am, otherwise I would have asked for my money back and look for another hotel. ||The location is the only bonus, close to the airport and the city centre. Also, the rooms are large and spacious, fairly good design too; too bad that the management doesn't seem to care about the small details that actually make the difference. Staff seemed bored and almost never was there anyone at reception, we had to call or wait for them to show up. Besides, the maintenance man was rude and acted like he owned the place with a very arrogant attitude.||I would never ever recommend this hotel and needless to say that I'll look for another place to stay at next time we're...
Read moreFuture Customers be warned that this hotel is presently under reconstruction. We have experienced loud noises from hammering and drilling close to our room, from 8AM. The room had dirty and dusty furniture, carpet with lots of stains, the bathroom looked like it wasn’t cleaned at all, shower head was leaking, absolutely not acceptable! We had a 1 pair of cheap slippers in a double room. Tv only had 3 channels working, no wifi password writen down anyware. Reception staff, not present at the desk most of the time, the receptionist that checked us in did not give is any info at all, and when we asked about breakfast she responded saying that her colleague will advise us tomorrow. There is no buffet at the location either. In our case this was hardly the level one would expect from a four star hotel. On the positive side the bed sheets and towels were white and clean ! Definitely we will not be...
