Dom Benua — Hotel in Адмиралтейский округ

I stayed in Saint Petersburg for a whole month because I was enrolled in a language course. The institute provided the housing, and while I do agree that it was very cheap and, thus, I shouldn't be too picky, I think do have the right to complain about a few things.||There is an area just for students, which is where I lived. Sort of a dorm. Most guests stayed in a different building, which I assume was in a better state. The rooms were fine, even though I didn't manage to get my bed sheets changed once, but I can live with that. ||However, I can't get over the fact that the common areas (showers, toilets and kitchen) were extremely dirty. Usually they would be cleaned once every working day, but we were left on our own for the whole weekend. The bins in the kitchen could only take one day's worth of trash, so imagine. By Sunday morning they would have overflowed. And don't get me started on the fridge. Just the thought of opening it made me sick. I understand that this is something that is going to happen at some point if you've got people sharing a space, especially (let's be honest) if they are students, but if you know that you should at least take proper care of that area. And clean the fridge every once in a while.||My other complaint concerns the staff at the reception. Most of them were extremely rude and not helpful at all. They advertise their free wifi and make sure you know the password so you can use it, yes. But they will do whatever it takes for you not to use it. To give you an example, one day, one of my friends had her passport stolen 7 hours before she was supposed to take her plane, so after going to the police and the consulate, we tried to cancel her flight. We came in the reception just so we could have a place to sit down, because it was 3am and quite cold outside, and they had locked the kitchen door (they didn't let you stay there after 11pm). We were using my own Internet usb stick on my computer, but the lady just started screaming at us saying that we made the wifi slow and telling us to go to the kitchen. It was useless for me to explain the situation, that we weren't even using their wifi, or remind her that they had already kicked us out of the kitchen, she made us leave.||Also, two of my dresses vanished from my wardrobe while I was staying there (and I also had some food disappear from my bags in the fridge from time to time, but I know that's not so much their fault as it is the other students'. People are so selfish).||I still think it's a nice place to stay, just be careful about your stuff and you should be fine. I think I was unlucky with the dresses, I didn't hear about anyone else getting anything stolen. The other students were very nice to me and I really enjoyed my time there. If you just want it to be the place where you sleep, it's completely fine. It's very close to the centre, so that's certainly a big plus. Just concentrate on...

Писать о расположении недалеко от основных достопримечательностей, как делают многие авторы отзывов об отелях и хостелах в центре Санкт-Петербурга, — в целом, моветон, на мой взгляд. Да и прогуляться всё же придется: от ближайшей станции метро минут 20 пешком. Но именно это я бы и вынес в неоспоримое достоинство «Дома Бенуа»: начинать каждый день свой выход сразу с прогулки вдоль Невы (до Английской набережной не больше 50 метров) — это действительно классно. Не важно: утро, день, вечер или ночь — ты сразу погружаешься в атмосферу еще императорской России. Можно пройти вдоль набережной и насладиться плеском Невы, утренними рыбаками или ночными судами при разведенных мостах. Или перейти на противоположную сторону и рассматривать буквально каждый дом — все исторические, на всех есть таблички, все охраняются государством :) Рядом, немного в другую сторону, «Новая Голландия» — буквально метрах в двухстах. Для галочки посетить стоит, если еще не были. ||||Место, где расположен отель (я бы назвал его, скорее, хостелом), очень тихое: автомобильный трафик незначительный, ночных заведений в радиусе метров пятиста не обнаружил, поэтому ничто с улицы не должно потревожить ваш сон, если это для вас стоит на одном из первых мест. В минуте ходьбы имеется магазин — правда, не круглосуточный. Сам номер просторный, помимо самой кровати есть довольно вместительный шкаф с вешалками и полками, две тумбочки, стул, небольшой журнальный столик с двумя стаканами, небольшое зеркало и телевизор. Бронируя, ожидал немного меньшего :) Можно не только переночевать и принять душ, но и расслабиться в любое другое время. Мужские и женские санузлы раздельные, в мужском душевых две: за время пребывания (останавливался на три ночи) ни разу не встретил не то что очередей, а даже одновременного использования второй душевой во время моего пользования первой.||||И немного пробегусь по отмеченным издержкам/недостаткам/нюансам — сами решите, насколько они критичны конкретно для вас. ||Во-первых, видавший виды ковролин в номере: имеются пятна, которые без его замены отмоет, вероятно, только химчистка. ||Во-вторых, звукоизоляция так себе: в коридоре и смежных номерах всё неплохо слышно, поэтому однажды решив глянуть ночью телевизор, вынужден был следить за громкостью. Впрочем, мне это особого дискомфорта не доставляло — скорее издержки бюджетного размещения. Но именно поэтому и подчеркнул в заголовке об остановке в одиночку: если вы — пара, и ночью предпочитаете не только спать, то при финансовой возможности можно попробовать поискать другие варианты (скорее всего, это будут уже полноценные отели). ||В-третьих, кухня какая-то пустая: я ими не пользуюсь обычно, поэтому тяжело говорить, что принято ожидать там увидеть, но однажды заглянув туда воды в кулере набрать, не обнаружил ни кружек, ни другой посуды (благо в номере есть два стакана,...

I've been in SPB for a month for a Russian course at the University. The University provided me the accomodation and I accepted because the price was so convenient. |I was in the "student area" so I don't know how the other areas of the hotel are. |I was in a triple room, but very small and with only one desk to study/work.|There was only one common bathroom on the floor and it was always dirty.
