We booked this hotel almost last minute before our vist to St Petersburg and in photos looked something very good comparing to the low price.||When we arrived at the city we found that it was somehow a little bit far but this was not an issue.||The dissapintment for me started when we faced the entrance. It reminded me hotels in bad neighborhoods of big cities which are used for other reasons although it was just in front of a river.||The interior of the building looked like it has been forgotten for many years with dirty walls and floor, hanging cables and a terror elevator.||Finally we found the entrance on the second. The hotel is very small and it looked nice at the area of the reception. Our rooms were right in front of the reception so you could hear anythng especially the first night the songs that reception has put.||Room was very nice and well decorated for the price. Bed was comfortable and shower was adequate and modern. The only problem was that at night the room is cold.||Breakfast was extra and i try nly ne day but for me was a joke.||Wifi was working properly everywhere and hotel was overall very clean.||Staff was ok but still I am very annoyed of their was which corresponds to other era by asking money for registration. This is ridiculous. We have already paid a lot of money for visa why should we have to pay for the hotel also especially when nowhere on the sites is written.||Overall a very mediocre experience.||For me just only a hotel to sleep somehow near the center which is 20...
Read moreAbajour/Abazhur is in a classic old building overlooking the river. The rooms are a good size and have ensuite bathroom/shower. The bed was comfortable and the dark furniture suited the old style high ceilings. Good free WiFi.||There is a small kitchen/dining room on the same floor with coffee/tea making, a share of a guests' fridge and access to toaster/microwave etc if you want to eat in.||This is a cosy arrangement that makes the whole experience more like a supported flat share than a hotel as such.||The staff are very friendly and helpful and although their English is very limited their enthusiasm in wanting to communicate and be helpful via assorted translator Apps is both charming and fun.||Staff were also extremely helpful and reliable in helping with their roles in the somewhat complex visa and local formal reporting requirements for tourists in Russia||Although there is a small Hotel sign it is easily missed...the number 86 on Fontanka is your best guide in locating the hotel. (the 2 refers to Second Floor of the building...appears Ground floor = first floor).||Location was just right for us...within easy access of major tourist sites while also being able to easily access more authentic (and better value) parts of St Petersburg.||Have no doubts about returning to this good value and...
Read moreThe mini-hotel has just a few rooms. It belongs to an association of mini-hotel popular in Russia. The staff is very kind and accommodating. Some of them are very good in communicating in foreign languages, some are limited to Russian. The rooms are clean, and the decor is nice, although very simple. Bathrooms in each room are a bit dated, but in working order. There is no air conditioning, which usually is not a problem, except for a few days in summer. The view on the river is nice, but the avenue on which the windows are facing is very busy, so keeping the windows open at night is not recommended because of the noise, however a fan was provided which alleviated a bit the heat.||Breakfast is available on request for an extra charge, and it is simple, with choice between porridge and eggs plus bread, jam etc. Very limited choice for people with dietary requirements. However the kitchen is open all day, so you can bring your own food (a fridge is available) and cook it yourself. A choice of tea and coffee is available for free, plus Lavazza espresso pods at 80 rubles each. In summary a good...
