Moscow has no middle, you either hate the city or love it. And there are nearly no "middle" hotels either. You can find very luxurous hotels at astronomical prices or you can find low quality or bad "budget" hotels at high price!! ||||I have to go to Moscow often for business and have a tight budget (and yes, I love this city!) So I've tried various budget hotels but they were really bad. This time I decided to try Basis M Hotel and eureka! This is the hotel I was searching for! ||||As I've mentioned before this is not your average city, so the hotels are not typical hotels. Basis M is located on the 4th floor of a business building. So you enter the building via security, get your access card and go to 4th floor. Here there's a little reception and you get the keys for your room. I've had superior room and it has good space, enough bathroom, free wi-fi. I was in moscow mid-december and the weather was unbelieveably cold, but I had no problem thanks to good heating system. ||||So, I'll go to Basis M again for further trips. This is a fine budget hotel in center Moscow. and by saying "budget", don't get it wrong I could stay at a 4 star hotel in Madrid's Gran Via or Amsterdam's Leidseplein with the price per night. But hey, this is Moscow and I've seen worse hotels with higher...
Read moreThe location is excellent, at the intersection of 3 Metro lines and 2 km from Red Square. The park in the middle of Chistoprudny bulvar has a lot of interesting street life on summer evenings, and the neighborhood has plenty of small shops and a couple of cafes. The price is excellent as well -- but the hotel does not take credit cards. Payment in cash, in advance. The adminstrator, Marina, was very helpful and friendly. The hotel is small (15 rooms I believe). The rooms do not have air conditioning. They do not change the sheets during your stay (although they change the towels daily). No breakfast is included; you are on your own with the local shops and cafes. My room faced the back and was very quiet. The window opened, but not very far, onto a balcony shared with another room -- it was sometimes hot! The room had its own toilet, shower, and a small washer (which I did not try to use). It is located on the 4th floor of a building containing other offices. The building has a lift. The doorman at the ground-floor entrance can be officious. The hotel entrance is a little difficult to see: it is a small arch next to a much larger entrance.||||I would definitely stay here again, on a...
Read moreI expected better from this hotel, but totally disappointed. My room was not ready when I came and they suggest me in another room and I had to pay extra. When I moved in the water in the shower was not hot and there was a good jet and it was impossible to wash. I wanted to call reception but no phone in the room and I went from 4th floor to the first floor. I have to move again to another room, the one I booked originally, and they returned the difference in cash. |I was in this hotel two nights and three days and they didn't clean the room. By the way, in my bathroom I don't have the lid on the toilet as it was much more. For example, there was one small blanket that was laid on a large king bed. I'm slender build and I couldn't cover myself. I will not return to this hotel ever. But I want to note that the location of that...
