Pension Please is located right off the road leading into the town and has parking on premise. Though just outside the centre of town, there is an easy and beautiful walking path to the town. Its a family run place and couldn't be more charming and lovely. The check in was handled well and we were cozily ensconced in our rooms in short time. The rooms are simple, sparkling clean and very comfortable. There is a small balcony from which terrific views of the mountains are available if the fog didn't cloud most of our visit!!! Beds are super comfortable and the bathroom is convenient with enough space - one doesn't knock over things in a bid to shower! They provide a hair and body wash which smelled delightful and kept the bathroom smelling good. Enough storage - shelf wise if you are staying a few days, which we did. The rooms also have a TV and wifi was excellent. ||||There is a nice lounge/ sitting area outside the rooms where you can sit and read. As with many places in Slovakia, there place is super child friendly, which as good as it might get noisy if the children played outside the rooms and you want to sleep! ||||The restaurant/ dining area primarily is for breakfast. They do not provide other meals but do provide delicious deserts/ pastry with a variety of hot drinks when you want it (at extra charge). They also have a good bar that you can choose to hang out at. The dining area also has a nice sitting area with a terrific view when not foggy (we were plagued with the fog through most of 3 days unfortunately). The breakfast is excellent and the scrambled eggs are to die for. Mother and daughter hold the flag flying high and the food served is just fantastic. ||||Overall, we had a great stay here and would highly recommend it. It was unfortunate that we could not do much hiking , the primary purpose of our trip, due to very heavy fog and rain. But given pension please was so good, we didn't mind the relaxation and rest. There is a jacuzzi/ spa that one of our group used and highly recommended it. The family members are friendly and their dog Alex added to the warmth...
Read moreWe spend 3 days in this beautiful place and couldn't get enough of it :). As a bigger family we occupied 2bdr apartment (with no door division) and 2x 2bedroom rooms. The room are quite spacious clean but don't provide any cuttleries plates or microwave or in bathroom no toiletries except the liquid hand soap but don't hesitate to ask a staff they will be more then happy to help. As I mentioned the staff service is more then excellent as they go way out of their way to help provide extra services or advice or even arrange the transport to ski area or arrange a horse carriage ride. Breakfast is a smaller buffet style with choice of cold meat n cheese platters with fresh fruit salad n vegetable choice orange juice milk coffee n tea cereals and home made cakes and other specialities and can order hot breakfast like ham n eggs soft/hard boiled egg or scrambled eggs or sausages. For families wit babies there are portable baby cots provided also few boxes of toys. Free wifi is a great bonus :) There is a spa n finish sauna upon request n fee payed. We also went to swim to the pools in to the nearby sorea hotel 2min walking distance €16 for as long as you want open from noon til 9pm. This little hotel is situated on the bottom part of Strbske Pleso just 10min walking distance to train station and main restaurant and entertaining area with lots of local shops souvenir shops coffee shops and few other hotels. There you can also catch a free shuttle bus which will take you to ski area or simply park your car and walk around. There is plenty of ski/snowboard rental places around we opted to rent ours right up at the ski area so we didn't have to carry it around. There are few ski schools too recommended to book in the morning (staff can help out) my 5yo daughter whom never ski before and doesn't speak Slovak language was thrilled to try and the ski instructor was awesome. |Saying all this we absolutely loved this place and thoroughly enjoyed our stay and if chance appear we will...
Read moreWe enjoyed our two night stay at Pension Pleso starting on 8 Sept 2018. We took the train from Bratislava to Strba, then took the co-located rack train about 4 miles up to Strbske Pleso. BTW: In Slovakia, train tickets are steeply discounted for non-EU seniors 70+ and are not necessary to reserve far in advance. The hotel is about a 14 min. walk mostly downhill from the train station. There is no elevator, only a spiral staircase, but the multi-lingual owners will carry your luggage to your room. During our stay they were very accomodating and went out of their way to help us. Rm #14 is quiet, med. size has a comfy Queen bed with two twin mattresses, 2 reading lights, night stand, corner table, TV, no coffee maker, no hair dryer, knee high step into the tub/shower. There’s no A/C but here in the mts. it gets quite cool at night and one opens the door to the small balcony to let air come in from the screen door. The balcony provides a partial view of mountains to the left. Excellent breakfast: coffee, teas, OJ, meats, cheeses, hard, scrambled or fried eggs, toast, pastries, cakes, yogurt, cold cereals, veg.s and fruit. There are many hikes, a beautiful walk around the lake, good restaurants and the electric train connecting to the other mountain resorts. One day, in Tatranská Lomnica, we had fun seeing that village and taking the gondolas and chairlift up to Skalnate Pleso and Stanica lanovky to view the craggy Tatra peaks.||We paid $110/night including tax.||Did this review earn a...
