Pros: perfectly decent room, reasonable size, clean, furnished and decorated to a satisfactory standard, nice balcony. If that's all you're after, you'll be okay.||||(Actually, not all that clean; I dropped something and had to look under the bed, where I found a previous occupant's bottled water.)||||Neutrals: a bit out of the way, but an easy 15-minute walk, short tram ride, or cheap taxi ride to the old town. Okay wifi. Bus/tram tickets available at reception.||||Cons: Unavoidable steps into the building (and a steep walk up from the main road) make this place unsuitable for anyone of limited mobility (the main -- though not only -- lift is reached by stairs!!) ||||No in-room facilities (no tea/coffee making, no 'phone, no USB ports, desperate shortage of power points, no a/c, only Slovak TV channels)||||Room serviced once in four days (I think; at least, the duvet had been moved around once while we were out)||||Really, if (as I think), this hotel chain aspires to "international" standards, they have to train staff away from the communist-era customer "service" mentality that still seems quite commonplace in Slovakia. This is exemplified by the breakfast buffet, which starts out okay (if far from outstanding), but when basics run out, as they quickly do, you have to go searching for someone, time and again. For example, it was only on the third day of a four-day stay that I realised that butter was provided for the toast -- because most of the time it had run out. One jug of milk to service both the coffee machine and the cereal bar -- which was at the far end of the room. A single, two-slot domestic toaster -- with the jams again by the coffee machine, at the far end of the buffet.||||Just needs a bit more thought and effort across the board to change this from a pretty mediocre experience to a...
Read moreIn general the hotel is located to quiet residual area few km away from the city. They advertise to be a 4-star hotel, but some maintenance would be needed to match that level. At minimum, they should have some more lights on the hallways. Now the overall impression is quite dark….
But during the stay pretty much all failed, and even worse the hotel didn’t had any interest to fix the failures. We booked a double room, but got a twin room where two beds were pulled together and there was a gap between mattresses. Reception claimed they don't have any other room types. Instead he asked a cleaning lady to bring an extra blanket which we could stuck into the gap. The blanket was brought to us to the reception and we needed to carry it to room ourselves…. Later on the evening we found out there was some party at the hotel, people were shouting on the hallways and banging the doors still way past midnight. And we heard music from the downstairs. I called to reception first time after 11pm, who replied he can't and won't do anything because "people will anyway stop within couple of hours"….. After a sleepless night we went to breakfast around at 9am (breakfast served until 10am), when they had already run out of e.g. juices. I don't drink coffee, so all I get to drink was warm tap water… On the other hand, sausages and eggs looked that they have been out since 6am and were completely dry. The waitresses just said they have run out of juices, not even apologizing the matter nor trying to...
Read moreWe are thankful, that we could stay in this hotel, because it's in a great location and it has a nice view on a Danube river. Unfortunately, there are many areas that staff should pay attention to. In example, food quality for breakfast is really low, juices are just colored water with a drip of flavour and sugar. They only serve instant coffee, which is of very low quality. My impression that whatever they go for is the cheapest thing rhey can get. Breakfast costs 10€, but you can actually get better food for breakfast just few hundred meters away on the riverbank. I spoke to one man on the reception and asked him politely if he could turn on AC, since it was getting really hot in the dining hall, and he didn't hide, that he is annoyed by my question. Instead of saying "yes sir, I am going to have a look at it and sort it out as quickly as possible" his answer was "you have to ask someone else" then "what's your name so I know who is asking" and it was really unpleasant interaction. Meanwhile, there are tens of people sweating and waiting for the AC to be turned on. Well, overall it was okay, but please read the reviews and use it as a helpful critique to improve your services and people will be always happy...
