Entirely renovated Hotel, it is part of a larger resort with two more hotels, a 3 and a 5 stars and some apartments. |The histrion is shapped like a C, has 2 sides, 1 toward the sea and 1 looking inward toward the marina, it has 3 floors with circa 100 rooms per floor, odd numbers look inwards, even toward the sea and the bay.|Rooms seems pretty standard, so this description should reflect most 2 to 3 people rooms. |Our room was 192, at the very end of the concourse, on 1st floor (reception is on floor #2 the street level, level 0 is the pool and beach).|We had enough space to store our luggages and clothes for our long weekend stay, the bed was OK albeit on the rather soft side, bathroom was small, but functional. There was a fridge for our use and a large balcony with seating, toward the bay and Portoroz.||We had no issue parking on one of their few parking lots, in our case right across the Histrion entry. |The breakfast had plenty choice, baked goods, fruits, eggs, coffee wad a let down (instant type from a machine), we took the half board option, |The hotel did not provide with a pool towels set, we needed to arrange a separate set for the salt water pools and sea side. The pool area is included in the room price, it is huge by any standard, clean, full of light with floor to ceiling glass doors and windows, and house 4 large indoor pools, and some small slides that will make kids up to 4 /5 y/o happy.||The sea front is 1m from the pools and accessible from the pool area.||After check out, the hotel allows departing guests to still use the facilities till 17h00, they left us the room cards paper holder, and the pool staff delivered us bracelets tags to enter, instead of our room key cards.|Our stay was half board, diner options were pretty solid 1 of the 2 nights, and made the value for money worth it.||Location is great, 1.5kms walk from Piran thru the sea front pedestrian walk, and 2kms to Portoroz tiny center. In all honesty the resort is nicer than Portoroz itself, similar but way cozier.||Hotel offers kids playrooms and daily programmes, and evening mini disco too.||All in all, excellent value for money, location is prime and quiet, just the size of the venue can be a turn off (300 rooms on 3 floors only), the staff was friendly, albeit some were a tat rough at 1st, but then became friendlier. We loved the place and think it offered a very good...
Read moreThe 1 star is for the spacious (2 rooms, 2 bathrooms and 2 balconies) and comfortable family suite we stayed in. That was a sole positive thing about this hotel. Customer service is far from the 4-star hotel standard. Let’s start with arrival: we arrived around 4pm, typical arrival time, family with 2 children and 4+ suitcases and the porter’s (who is supposed to be there helping the arriving guests navigate parking and suitcases) little house is empty, we were told one man is usually there in the afternoon and was probably on his break (during PRIME check in time!) and we had to figure out the garage, which level, and manage suitcases on our own to the reception (garage and reception are not close). Next-Reception: Marko “welcomes” us. Hotel customer service 101, first rule: SMILE! Welcome your guests who have been driving for 7 hours. This man has zero customer service politeness and basic courtesy. Not a smile. Not a kind word. I seriously wonder about where does the staff come from and what kind of experience/background they have. There are two dinner time slot options (6pm and 7:15pm) and even though we are with 2 smaller children, he tries to tell us only 7:15pm is available. After being kindly reminded we have two children who might fall asleep by the end of that dinner, he “switches” us to 6:15pm time. 🤨 The food hall is huge, loud, unpleasant. Dinner options (buffet style when on half-board booking) galore, but all below average. No kids options at all. Servers are awkward, inexperienced and nervous. Next: the bar area next to reception, while we are checking out, we sit down and after few minutes of barman not coming over, I head to the bar directly to order 2 coffees. Another ridiculous example of poor customer service: barman, without saying hello, God forbid he smiles, straight away comments that he “always” comes to our table. Basically, I save him the trip and he is “inconvenienced” a lectures a guest. Beyond ridiculous. Unfortunately this mentality will keep this vacation area and this hotel far below hotel excellence. I have been to many 4-star hotels and this one simply doesn’t cut it. Spend your...
Read moreThe whole hotel is reminiscent of the trade union resorts of the socialist era. On arrival, there is no access to the entrance, and luggage has to be carried about 50 metres to the reception, come rain or shine. Parking is free, provided you can find a parking space somewhere, and there's no help in finding one, park where you can, in my case it was about 500 metres from the hotel, on the hill next to the buses.|The groups arrive in huge buses - like in socialism for the tour - so as a private guest you have to wait until the groups' business is sorted out, then it's your turn. The guest area has been renovated, but the service roads are in a state of terminal disrepair. The air-conditioning units have probably not been cleaned for years, smiling merrily with mould...|Meals are served in rotation, and you can pick up your prepaid breakfast and dinner on a self-service basis. The noise is horrendous, over 100 people trying to eat at once, children screaming and shouting is the normal noise level. At dinner, the few staff who call themselves waiters - the rest are just clearing the dishes - immediately find you to bring you a drink at a gold price, which they don't pour and, for example, you have to drink beer from a wine glass, as it's on the table, they don't bring you another. The crowds can make you wait half an hour to pay for your drink, but if you don't tip enough they will make a point of it, making faces.|They heat without any need for heating, but you can't adjust the temperature on the panel in the room, it's disabled, and if you open the balcony door, the rain pours into the room.|Do not go during school holidays, because the swimming pool area is full of parents with small children and the pool is not big enough for such a crowd, because other paying guests can come in from the outside. Kids running around screaming in the hallways, nothing like a four star hotel.|The swimming pool water is dirty, smelly, after a swim the bathing suits smelled so bad you couldn't wash them. We threw them out. |The staff are not helpful, they don't even want you to have a good time and come back because of the mass tourism....
