Picardie Guest Farm — Hotel in Drakenstein Local Municipality

HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT I booked this place after reading the great reviews on booking.com. What a disappointment from arrival to departure, fortunately we only stayed one night. There was no room prepared for us even though the full payment was made a few days ahead. The day before arrival I notified them of an additional adult joining as the booking confirmation stated that the "suite" was suitable for 3 adults. This was confirmed, but not recorded anywhere. I was also not informed of the additional charge for the 3rd adult, this was sprung on me on departure. On arrival we were shoved in a room with a smelly carpet, as it was the most 'suitable' for 3 adults. I did offer to pay for an upgraded room but was ignored. I complained to the young man who set us up and was shown another room, where the double bunks were separated into single beds. The sheet on one of the single beds were covered in hairs. Clearly not ideal in a pandemic. Our continental breakfast was very basic and consisted coffee, rusks, yogurt, muesli and a few pieces of fruit. They did prepare huge vegetarian omelets as requested. The staff in general was friendly with one young man who went the extra mile to show us and set us up in another room after I complained. My experience was awful I will never return and never recommend to anyone. Positives.... the grounds of the farm and lake view...

100% the best time I have had at a guest house. We went for my girlfriend's mother's wedding and I had such a fantastic time.

The rooms are beautiful and well designed. Plenty of blankets to keep you warm and aircons to keep you cool. The staff are ultra friendly and make you feel extremely comfortable while still remaining professional.

The food was amazing and very "homey". Most of the rooms are built right on the lake for a fantastic view of Paarl mountain, the lake, Paarl off in the distance and beautiful mountain ranges beyond that. The view of Paarl is especially nice because you can barely see the buildings themselves so it looks all natural and just part of the scenery.

There are 2 super friendly dogs that roam around along with a goose that likes to pet the guests and give them a good welcome.

Again, I had an absolutely fantastic time there and it was in the top 3 of the best...

The Picardie Farm is a wonderful place. The beautiful buildings are situated right next to a private pond. Surrounded by trees in the heart of nature yet still close to the city center, it is the perfect place to stay.

Squirrels and ducks can be seen everywhere, making it a lively and vibrant spot! The owners and staff are incredibly friendly. We were warmly welcomed and have never experienced such amazing hospitality before. Everyone is attentive and open-minded.

It is an absolutely safe place in a fantastic location. All the sights in the surrounding area are easily accessible from here. Juanita is always there to listen and help wherever she can. The rooms are cozy, clean, and beautifully furnished.
