The Paxton Hotel — Hotel in Eastern Cape

For a 4 star hotel, expectations were high bit yoh.

When going to a hotel, you would expect someone to assist you when luggage, that is not what we found when coming here.

Receptionist "Sbahle", very professional but being friendly & informative to guests will be very helpful. First service we received from her was not very pleasant 💔. Asked her about recommendation activities, but it was pointless because she didn't have much to share about the area. Was not even at her desk when we arrived.

Rooms: that I can give a five star, they are beautiful and the view is stunning.

We asked for interleading rooms: whoever the Receptionist was on the day, did not have any decency to say they do not have, but wrote "interleading or next to each other". It would have been great for the person to check if we are comfortable with next to each other rooms.

Restaurant: have friendly faces and the best, you feel you in the different world when you check their service and the Receptionist service. The only thing I hated was how dry and salty their bacon was. Overall, the food is just decent. There is also one waitress that makes you feel uncomfortable who just stares you straight in the eyes without saying anything.

Cleaning: priority seems to be changing of the bedding and nothing else, a room with two people but they leave only one bottles water? That does not make any sense at all. Drank coffee and was shocked to find the cup coming back after the room was cleaned with coffee stains, no spoons replaced in the room.

Expectations were high from what we read but we received the opposite experience considering this is a highly recommended...

It was the easiest check-in ever, except that it was late, dark and wet outside, and I wasn't clear where I could get help with my luggage. I'm sure had I asked reception or the security guard, someone could have helped. I was in a mad rush as my inbound flight was late and there were people waiting to meet me for dinner. The room is clean and tastefully decorated with all the usual trimmings. The hand and body lotion was fabulous. When I returned from dinner I reported a fault with my safe to the black gentleman in the office. He came to check it and said it had a low battery (he would get maintenance to fix it in the morning) - well he never did and it was never done, checking with the reception on my departure I believe it was never even reported; he could have been the same one whose attitude said it was a little too much to ask for some extra logs on the fire when I got back late from work and wanted to work downstairs. Except for this man, the staff are phenomenal : friendly, helpful (beyond what is asked), professional and always to be found. The beds are comfortable, the food is great and the location is perfectly central. There is free parking for guests even though it is limited in number - there is an overflow area though. I would definitely stay here anytime. Check out was just as easy as check in. Reza (not the safe guy) was on duty late one night when I decided to work, his friendly polite service and accommodation of my request to work by the warm fire in the lounge as well as his patience in answering all my questions was really really good. The short ( overnight) stay became a bit of a disappointment. We were there just between 7 in the evening and 8 in the morning and you ask yourself " What can POSSIBLY go wrong-- ... Well, Murphy's law it was|10 in the night I call room service for a bottle of drinking water and get a most unprofessional response " If any of the staff is around I will send it" The water did eventually arrive so that was that. But next morning my electric kettle* for the tea) wouldn't start up. The person who was sent to fix it jiggled a few wires and said she would need to take the kettle down and get a replacement. She came back some 10 minutes later with a new set ( vessel plus base) , handed it to me with the assurance that it would work, and went away-- I guess I should have got her to operate it in my presence, but again, trusting person that I am, I let her go... But the new kettle too wouldn't work-- neither with the old base or the new one..
