Harbour Cottages, Humewood — Hotel in Eastern Cape

Excited to be visiting PE again in September this year (2024) and also anticipating another trip to the same location in December this year, we booked at Harbour Cottages for both stays paying both amounts up front in good faith.||Upon our arrival at Harbour Cottages, Sayre Road in Humewood, we couldnt find the place and had to call the listed number only to find out that we had to go a few roads away to Kings Beach Cottages in Cathcart Road. We made our way there and wound our way up a steel outside staircase to a room under a covered portico - which as we found out the next morning, leaked all over the tiled floor and we were frightened of slipping ... but that's not the major issue - it was the actual room.||The room called "Breeze" was a disaster:|- the bedside lights were both broken (fire hazard due to the impacted cabling)|- the pillows had large oil stains on them (from some greasy/oily head)|- the bed itself had glitter on the sheets (obviously not changed)|- the shower had mould all the way around it|- one of the soap dispensers was broken|- the thin bedroom carpet was curled up on the corners (tripping hazard)|- the security gate didnt close and would not latch (security issue)|- one of the two chairs in the room was broken|- the small couch in front of the bed had numerous large stains on it that appeared to be either urine, vomit or some other secretion||We called the night manager who happened to be on duty and showed him. He then contacted the person in charge of the cottages who is apparently the GM. We spoke to her and she managed to move us to another room which was far better. I think we were given the worst room in the establishment and were horrified that they could actually even offer this to us without shame.||In light of the fact that we were given such a shoddy room in the first place and that we had to complain about numerous issues, we decided to cancel our booking for December with them thereby giving them a full 3 months notice that we would NOT be staying with them.||Then the battle for the refund began with the GM who constantly blocked and hedged ... wasted phone calls, irate discussions, empty promises, constant ducking and diving by the GM and no willingness to provide the contact numbers of the accountant nor the owner, have resorted in us having to go legal with the matter. ||The photos are attached...

We booked into one of the cottages. For more than 1 night... It was for a few nights..||1. The don't clean the cottage, no dishwasing towels, no clean and fresh towels for bathroom. No clean sheets aswell??? Is this acceptable.........!!!!!!!!!!!! ||2. When you book in THEY SAY FACILUTIES TO USE AT YOUR STAY.... when we want to go to the swimming pool area to relax, they say NOT ALLOWED.. HOW CAN YOU BOOK A Stay, AND THE FACILITY IS THERE | THEN YOU MAY NOT USE THE SWIMMING POOL.... Because the cottage guest may not use the pool???? That is so unacceptable.. WE PAY FOR OUR ACCOMMODATION SO WE PAY TO USE THE SWIMMING POOL... We are paying guests!!!!! ||Why advertise something then show guest aways... Uncomfortable and unacceptable...||Plein weg net geld van n klient Neem vir iets wat geadverteer word en Dan mag jy dit nie eers BENIT/OF GEBRUIK NIE.. Hoekom dit Dan ADVERTEER as bespreek op Enige bespreekings platform???? ||Dit word ook nie aan jou genoem as inboek nie.. Dit word aan jou genoem sodra jy dit Wil gebruik... ||3. When you book into the cottages they say no room SERVICE OR LIMITED Room SERVICE .. WOW??? REALLY.... For guests staying more than a night... More than 2 nights....no clean towels.. No clean bedding.. No cleaning service at...

We thought this was a beautiful place to stay and we would love to come back. Place is beautiful, location great and spacious and clean. We had some bad luck with a fridge not doing it's job which they replaced for us and we had some more bad lack with the thermostat on the water so we had cold showers on one night and they offered an alternative for us on the following night.
