Wanting to try out a different venue for our yearly 2 day conference, I decided to book at Eagle's nest. Not the best decision.||The welcome was friendly, but that was where it ended. The equipment was not working, which delayed our programme by nearly 2 hours, that of course impacted our tea and lunch schedules. When I asked the staff if we could hold off on these, they grumpily accepted. The tea time snacks weren't nearly enough for all our attendees, not to mention that the snacks were burnt. Lunch was at least tasty.||The 2nd day of our conference I found that they hadn't set-up the room the way I had requested the previous week per telephone. They hadn't put out new pads and pens and the old pads with notes from the previous day was still on the tables. ||Since we weren't a big group on the 2nd day, we were running ahead of schedule by a good 30min. I went to ask the cook if we can perhaps make tea time 15min earlier, to which she said no, she's not ready. When lunch time came around, I went again to ask if we can move lunch up with 30min, as I told her previously that we are running ahead of schedule, she came out of the kitchen with the rudest attitude, raised her voice and told me that we said 12:30 so its 12:30.||One of our staff members had stayed over and found the bathrooms to be in an unacceptable state, there was mould everywhere.||I read some of the previous reviews, they were all positive, but I suspect that the place has since gone down considerably. I will definitely not be making use...
Read moreI stayed in room 14 at Eagles Nest Lodge for 2 nights in the beginning of August 2016. I was there for business and so I arrived quite late and then departed quite late too, and on both occasions, the owner and manager was really sweet to deal with and nothing was an issue, which I really appreciated.||||The breakfast served from 7am to 9am was perfect and being vegetarian, they had a fantastic variety of muesli and cereals with yoghurt and fresh fruit salad.||||The weather was quite cold whilst I was in Johannesburg, but the room was extremely cosy and the aircon/heater worked like a charm, and the bed was incredibly comfortable to sleep in.||||My only suggestion is to take a room on the ground floor rather than the second floor as you could hear traffic early in the morning, and I think if you are on the ground floor, the boundary wall might decrease the noise levels. This however would not deter me from staying at this place again.||||Location was ideal for me as it was 1km away from the main freeway that runs around Johannesburg and across the road is a Woolworths, Mythos Restuarant, etc. all in...
Read moreWe booked 1 night very last minute as our flight to EU was delayed with 24 hours.||The location is good, in northern suburb of Jo'burg, however we had a room close to the very busy William Nicoll Drive, and the noise was really bad.||||Room itself was spacious and clean, mattress was good, but room was bit outdated particularly the bathroom. There were no free water bottles, ||||Breakfast was low to average, for this price would not expect instant coffee, but we could order a full English Breakfast.||||There was a bit of strange atmosphere in the place. Staff was not greeting at all, except for the lady (owner, we believe). It came across as if there was a negative vibe among the staff and owners. Also cleaning staff came knocking on our door multiple times before 10:00. While we had indicated we most likely would depart at 10:30.||||On check-out, receptionist was on phone, gave the invoice, also didn't greet, nor asked how our stay was. ||||Would not come back to this place, nor would I recommend anyone to stay here, there are better places in the area for same...
