I recently visited Milky Lane at Montecasino and was instantly transported back in time. It's been years since I've seen a Milky Lane, and the rush of nostalgia hit me, reminiscent of the good old days when there was one in Bloemfontein.

The place was buzzing with energy, and despite the crowd, the staff at Milky Lane Montecasino were efficient and managed to get our orders promptly. The quick service was a pleasant surprise, ensuring we didn't have to wait long to indulge in our favorite treats.

What stood out the most was the friendly demeanor of the staff. Their warm smiles and attentive service added to the overall positive experience. It's rare to find such a combination of efficiency and friendliness in a bustling place, and Milky Lane Montecasino nailed it.

As I enjoyed my milkshake, I couldn't help but wish for the return of Milky Lane to Bloemfontein. The memories of the one that used to be there came flooding back, and it's clear that Milky Lane has a special place in the hearts of many. Bringing it back to Bloemfontein would undoubtedly be a treat for the locals and a trip down memory lane for those who remember its presence.

Milky lane Montecasino was sadly disappointing, perhaps because it was later in the evening, they seemed to have prepared our order with a sort of thrown together feel, ice-cream was melted, no presentation effort made and the ice-cream float tasted horrible, the Fanta was flat and there was ice particles in the soda while the ice-cream had melted on the top, it was put on the table with no plate under it so when my son tried to put his straw in, it messed all over the table, the sauces for the waffles were mostly empty and we had to ask to fill the chocolate sauce, there wasn't enough cuttlery or napkins put on the table and they literally didn't even wait for us to get up before they started putting our chairs up. It was seriously a horrible and rushed experience. I understand it was after 10pm but it was a Friday night and if it closes at 11 or 12 then they should still be giving customers the service they're paying for.

After my initial review I was contacted by Nazreen who kept following up to apologize and say that the staff were made aware of the issues I had. I like that they have been proactive in a resolution and they are focused on service. It is a beautiful shop, which make it enticing to enter, whether you a Milky Lane fan or not. Many of the Milky Lane shops have through the years not keeping up with good design practices and it would have been only the faithful who would have visited. It is situated near the food court, the game area and the movies. The seating is comfortable and there is access to the public toilets. Milky Lane is well situated to cater for kids and also has enough on the menu for a sweet tooth parent or adult. The waffle is still my all time favorite. After being disappointed at a another franchise shop, I have tried one at Montes. I WAS NOT disappointed. It was Crispy and fresh and does not give the impression is was heated up. For those who love milkshakes you are spoiled for choice. They also have a few surprises up the sleeve with a creative mix. A good coffee on the menu might be a welcome addition, yet being a speciality store, it is well understood. When you grow older the sizes and portions always look smaller... haha...
