La Villa Rosa — Hotel in Gauteng

July 2023 I write this review with a sad heart as Connie has been very good to me over the years I have been frequenting this B & B.

I stayed in one of the 2 outside rooms which I found very clean and the beds very comfortable. There were two things I was not happy with on this trip.

When I arrived at the B & B, I took a shower and felt a slight electric shock when turning the taps on and off. I didn't think anything of it and thought it was just me as sometime I can imagine things. The next morning I had another shower and felt it again, when speaking to my granddaughter, she said she also felt it the night before. I text Bizza to let him know as I had left the water running as didn't want to take the risk of touching it again. Bizza came to the room and turned the water off. He said he would get an electrician out to take a look that day. When I spoke to him that evening, he said that " you cant get a shock from touching the taps as its just water coming thought the pipe, but my husband who is an electrician said those pipes need to be earthed so are affected. I didn't feel the B & B took me seriously when I mentioned it. Also the door handle comes out the slot when you are trying to close the door. I did bring this to their attention in 2022 but nothing has been done. I am from the UK and have been coming to the B & B for years and the staff have been very accommodating towards me. This was my first trip to Johannesburg and I had read a great deal about things to be careful of. The level of crime is true but you can protect yourself by doing a few simple things. Stay away from the tourist areas where you will stand out and stay in one of the local guesthouses. This guesthouse was recommended to me by our office. The owners Vanessa and Arneau are really great hosts. THe rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. Breakfasts and meals were very good and they made you feel at home. This guesthouse is located in a good neighbourhood and I felt safe all the time. I stayed for almost two weeks and thoroughly enjoyed the room, meals and general surroundings. THe only dissappointment was that the pool was unuseable. Kind of green and loaded with chlorine so I took a pass. Everything else was very good and I would recommend this place to anyone that wants to stay in Midrand. THe price was attractive 695 rand per night or...
