Lourie Lodge — Hotel in Gauteng

This review makes me sad as the staff at the Lourie were exceptional - and they can only work with what they have - but no money has been put back into this place for years and it is dire. We booked and paid for 4 nights - non refundable. The location is excellent, they have on site parking and fabulous staff. We arrived and our rooms were not ready so we suggested we sit outside and have a sandwich we had brought with us and would wait till the rooms were ready. The outside was just awful - the couch was torn, sun damaged, rotten through. We tried to make a cup of tea from the communal kitchen area - but there was no milk on site and no teaspoons to be located - not even in the main kitchen. The previous guests had not vacated their rooms, nor the premises. The piles of luggage, guests ( a school of chess students ) were running, shouting and screaming around the pool area. (Check out is at 10am and this was 1:45 ) We stayed for around and hour - then decided to leave and find somewhere else to stay ...even though we didn't actually get to out room - we could tell from the tattered mess of everywhere else - that the rooms would be the same. In my life ive stayed at many guest houses throughout SA, Lourie Lodge is by far the best of em all!!! The Team blew me away with there attention to detail, kindness and making sure our needs are put first and over catered for! ||Not only are they FLIPPEN GREAT at what they do, but they also assisted us in attempting to completely change a girls life, her house burnt down, and myself and the company decided to assist, and the only other people out there who truly came to the table without blinking an eye is LOURIE LODGE!!! Truly the best of the best staff, i have never in my entire life dealt with people that are so unbelievably caring, and attentive to our needs...Lourie Lodge is the only Lodge with Heart and Compassion...without saying too much, they assisted in the process of attempting to changing a strangers life, to help myself and my company in taking someone off the streets, and giving them a way to build their life...It brings tears to my eyes knowung that there truly are still amazing people out there!!!

Honestly, i would go no where else except Lourie Lodge...

Oh and the ease of access, its probably the most conviently situated lodge in the entire Fourways area!!
