For a long time we heard a lot of positive things about The Baron, and specifically the Fourways branch of this "professional entertainment group. One Friday evening we decided to make it our stop and find out what the whole experience is like.
We enjoyed our time and we'll return to this branch in future. Why? The look and feel of the restaurant. Inviting. Pleasant. Warm. If it was a rainy day I'd even say cosy. On one end is the bar. Up some stairs you have the tables. There's a balcony. Another set of stairs takes you down to a deck with a bar and more seating. The Klein-Jukskei river flows past. A nice view at night cause you can hardly see Witkoppen.
Our waiter was wonderful. Friendly. Chatty (but not too much) and gave us the kind of service you'd expect from an establishment of this calibre. We were welcomed with smiles and sent on our way the same way.
Food: not what I expected unfortunately. Still an excellent steak and I'd order it again, but it did lack some flavour when we were there. The Prego Burger platter was excellent. Good coffee too.

Read moreA great perk for parents is that this particular Baron is child-friendly. There is a nice jungle gym, jumping castle and little bikes for kiddies to keep busy whilst parents and friends sip on a nice cold beer.
Mbali who is a child-minder there is lovely and will ensure your child is well-looked after.
I would have given four stars if it weren't the general lack of interest or service from the waitresses. The Baron was not busy at all on the Thursday afternoon when we went, but it took about 10 minutes to flag a waitress down and even then we were not provided a menu so just went for drinks off the top of our heads. A touch more professionalism and the star rating will soar.
Location-wise its lovely as the restaurant lies adjacent to the Jukskei river so once can choose to sit and view the river whilst enjoying a nice lunch.
Overall its a neat establishment - some of the furniture is a bit old and will sooner rather than later need to be replaced but aside from that and a bit more attention from the staff it's a nice place...

Abandon her post with the kids? No, there were none in the park at the time. Full marks, Mbali, and Thank You! (Why no contact email on your site?) Cóld Tank beer, nice linen table cloths, crystal-clean glassware, spacious enough to not have next door's seafood platter wafter up the bouquet of my house brand Merlot (not bad at all.) So what's missing? Boerewors! & Pork chops on the menu! And a few mini drinks platters; I don't áálways want starters, mains, and pud. Otherwise, véry nice. 4th visit: 'Would be nice if the manager didn't bark at at the ladies in front of us custies. 'Love the (sponsored?) unbrellas, but sóó many patrons getting hit in the head as the sun sets?? 'Must say, these ladies must spend a fortune one their hair-do's! ('Hope they get a Hair allowance.) Special thanks to Chris for help with...
