Villa Afrikana (VA) is one of the most hospitable and welcoming guest house that I was fortunate enough to stay at.
My wife and I spent 7 fantastic days at the VA while we were vacationing in Knysna and our experience at the VA was superb. The hosts, Rossano and Bianca, are truly friendly and do really make you feel at home during your stay at the VA.
The staff at the VA are excellent as well. They are always looking out for your well-being, and they are always willing to go the extra mile (kilometer) to ensure that you are enjoying your stay at the VA.
Beauty, Lovemore, Talent, Ona, Blossy and Ayanda are part of the staff that work at the VA, and you will get to know them quite well during your stay at the VA.
The VA offers a simplistic room service menu, however their inclusive breakfast is a hidden gem. Guests are given the opportunity to select a variety of hot (Segafredo coffees) and cold beverages (fruit juices) for breakfast as well as a variety of different food items, which include eggs, french toast, pancakes and muesli.
The VA is nicely located near the Western entrance of Knysna, not far from the N2 highway, and the Knysna waterfront is around 4 - 5 minutes away via car.
Additionally, the VA is situated on a small hill/slope which allows a fantastic view of the Knysna lagoon/estuary from the guest house itself. You can actually see the entire lagoon/estuary, all the way from the Knysna Heads to the beginning of the Knysna river to the West.
Overall, our experience (as guests) at the VA has become one of the more memorable aspects of our trip to Knysna, and we have already agreed at this stage, that should we ever return to Knysna, we will definitely stay (again) at the VA.
Just as note to guests that will be staying at the VA, the driveway is on a bit of a steep incline, so make sure you have a good run-up (drive-up?) once the electronic gate is open. I like to think that the driveway is similar to Mount Panorama's (Sydney Australia) The Dipper turn, as when exiting the VA, you literally have to just let the car roll down out...
