MUSE Fusion Food — Restaurant in George

Was so excited to try this local restaurant but we were very disappointed. Our waiter took an age to take our drinks order. We ordered starters which an hour later had still not arrived! We asked our waiter what was happening 3 times and on all occasions he said it'll be coming out soon. I don't think he even bothered to check. Sonja the owner came over and apologised for our order docket having been lost and managed to rush the order through the kitchen in record time - thank you for that. After waiting so long for the starters, one of the orders was wrong! We didn't want to send it back and have to wait even longer to get going with our dinner - we'd had a very light lunch and were ravenous. Mains arrived - schnitzel was decent, burger was ok, thai curry was not great and the penne pasta ordered was very bland and there was not a hint of anchovy in it despite protestations. The sauce tasted like plain pureed tomatoes. When the bill arrived we noticed that we were charged for the incorrect starter (which was more pricey than the starter we ordered). The only shining light was a lovely waitress who was not serving our table but came over to help and try and calm the situation. Tanique, you were a star and an asset to Muse! We sadly won't return to this restaurant but if I could give Sonja and her team some constructive feedback I would suggest that when your guests have waited an hour for a starter to arrive, there should be some sort of compensation - don't charge for the starters , comp a round of drinks or give a discount on the bill. Waiting more than 100 minutes for a pizza and didn't get it is just too much. Guests who arrived a long way after us got their food beforehand,Saw guests sending wrong orders back, chaotic situation. Asked for our food several times Nice waiters but incredibly bad organization. When I reserve at 6.30 pm don't want to wait till 8.30 or later and don't get food. So, first time in my 60 year long life,I left a restaurant without food. Payed my drinks,got some questions from the chief, like of whether it was better a year ago, ok, but absurd for me.We will never come back here again. sorry. If you have enough lifetime to spend, maybe it's nice to sit in the garden, but never go there if you are hungry.

@Dean, regarding to your answer down here ( I can not answer directly), we did have a reservation on the front side, I called you the day before, after arriving in time you asked us to sit in the garden. Rest as described. And thanks for the starter, I wanted to pay everything we consumed, but I was invited for that 6 mussels. Anyway, maybe we are only tourists with to less time for waiting for 2 pizzas more than 1.5 hours....

For years, I’ve driven past Muse in Knysna without ever stopping by. Deciding to finally check it out was an amazing decision. The place exceeded my expectations with its inviting atmosphere. I had a great time playing some pool, which added a fun element to the visit.
