This “Afro-chic” gem offers 14 en-suite bedrooms, each with their own private veranda. The best part? They are centrally located in Church street which means you are in the heart of it all!
Checking in was easy, Pauline welcomed me and after a quick covid protocol, she showed me around the property and to my room.
The room was an executive standard suite complete with a shower, a bar fridge, air conditioner, gowns, and even a few extra treats like Darling toffee and wine. Despite the hotel being fully booked this weekend, it was surprisingly serene with little to no noise whatsoever. For a full hotel, it certainly was relaxing and I was made to feel like we were the only ones there!
Breakfast is served to guests from 7-10 am. A fruit starter is followed by a hot meal. On the first morning, I enjoyed scrambled eggs on ciabatta with biltong and on day two it was a hot English Breakfast buffet. Bottomless coffee, quality teas and orange juice made the breakfast complete.
If it is a warm day, then I would definitely suggest a relaxing time around the pool at Monte Vista Boutique Hotel (guests only). There is an honesty bar where you can help yourself to drinks, ice and snacks which came in very handy. I was certainly lucky to relax at the pool at the right time because we were the only ones there and took full advantage of lounging on the loungers. I even went for a dip and did a few laps in the pool. The day was obviously not complete without some bubbly!
It was such a wonderful stay! Highly...
Read moreFound a little baby cockroach in our room the night before checkout. Then at the start of breakfast on our 2nd and last morning there, I was served some savouries/dessert type of tartlets on a little serving platter. 2 Cockroaches appeared on the platter from between the tartlets. 1 Jumped off the tray onto the table which I squashed with toilet paper and the other little one remained on the platter that I immediately took back to their kitchen. The 2 staff members were very apologetic and tried to make some excuses for why and how they could have ended up in the kitchen/food. We canceled the rest of the breakfast and checked out. Oh and there's no tv's or microwaves in the rooms which doesn't make sense since it's basically self catering but you can't even warm food that you've bought in your room. The 2 stars are for the beautiful grounds/rooms and 2 friendly staff members that dealt with us during our stay. We won't be back though. For the price you pay to stay there you should at least be served breakfast from a clean/cockroach...
Read moreWe have spent quality time for the second time at the lovely, well run Monte Vista Boutique Hotel at Montagu. This is without doubt one of the finest establishments of its kind in the Western Cape. ||All units are very tastefully - and intelligently - appointed, you can clearly see the handwriting of the charming and hands-on owner-architect Amike. The mattresses and the bedding are absolutely top notch, very comfortable and luxurious. We slept like babies.||Then the lovely garden and pool, what a nice surrounding to relax and recharge.||The breakfast was one of the best we ever had, the waiter was warm and professional at the same time, and we had the chance to exchange ideas with the owner, who is constantly putting so much love and effort into this house, clearly the project of her heart!||All in all, there is nothing to fault, we shall not only be back, but we shall recommend this wonderful house to our...
