This stay was in the planning for a long time. I have eaten at the sister restaurant of Jonksmanshof (Hemelhuijs in Cape Town) on numerous occasions and knew that given the quality of food, decor and beautiful attention to detail, that the hotel in Montagu would be very much the same. We travel a lot and must say that this was one of the most gorgeous and unique places we’ve ever stayed. Ode to great taste, wonderful design and high level of hospitality. Everything was perfectly curated - from interior/outdoor details to breakfast and dinner experience. The owners and Brydon were truly welcoming and went an extra mile to make our stay so enjoyable. It felt like staying at a good friends’ place, with the most beautiful memories.

Exceptional detailed service. Amazing breakfasts. The proprietors take a great deal of effort to give you lots of useful info. The decor is so very special and detailed. Lovely hikes in the surrounding mountains. Beautiful gardens to blow you away! One small thing - perhaps try and select a bedroom that is not street facing as you cannot leave the shutters and windows open on that side as you can from the other rooms and share the magnificent views that they have.
