Livesey Lodge Independent senior Living — Hotel in Overstrand Local Municipality

Last night August 30th, 2014 myself and my girlfriend checked in at the Livesey Lodge in Hermanus.||we were requested to pay R 900.00 upfront for a room that was dusty.||The bathroom had a variety of previous occupants body hair, still laying on the floor and there was a cockroach on our floor (i took few clean pictures of it).||Outside the room there was a number of teenagers making loud noises and playing by the pool.||All of the above was tolerable up until we came back from dinner and at 11 PM these unruly kids were 2 doors away from our room, bashing walls and riding skateboards, whilst shouting and screaming.||I called the "after hours' number that belongs to a certain Bridgette. These kids were unattended and unsupervised.||I suspect some of the kids were family with the lodge owners and had a few class mates visiting.||Bridgette made the noise stop, but in the morning we were never offered an apology.||There was another lady that upon hearing our negative remarks, all she could say was "shame".||Pathetic.||However we will never return to that place.||we were the only guests in the middle of winter and this is the treatment we received.||I must add:||- No DSTV - No Hairdryer - Fridge was off when we checked in - No Wi Fi signal in our room. (Blue Room) - Pool water was of an alarming yellow green color.||The place is worth R 300 at best.||Overpriced||After re looking at their website I noticed how we were charged summer rates in the midst of winter. Dishonest too besides...

Fantastic service. Rendered their service on very short notice. They quickly took us to a few rooms so we could decide what will suit our stay best. Pleasant and friendly management. We didn't do breakfast due to the many options in the area. Room was clean and liveable. Nice external shutters on the windows provide a little extra security and blocks the sun if needed. Car parking is on site and free but not entirely secure, it's in a low crime area and we had no typical south african crime to upset our stay.||Big thanks for everything....

We only stayed one night in Hermanus and found this lodge online. It is a bit far from town, but if you have a car that is really not a problem. The rooms are spacious all face the pool area. The decor and fixtures are ok and in general the lodge is of an ok quality. Do not expect luxury, but rarther a comfortable and well maintained place to stay.||The staff we met were friendly and gave us tips on where to go for dinner. The level of safety was a bit over-the-top, but as long as you found the right keys for each...
