Hermanus Backpackers — Hotel in Overstrand Local Municipality

Be careful on the way in, it's close to a Township. They take the necessary precautions though and all in all it's a good value stay. Really informative staff who are happy to advise and help. Even though rooms are co-ed they separate male and female where they can. The communal rooms are comfortable and the outside area is also great. Kitchen and bathrooms are clean and in good condition. It's not far to the coastal path which is an excellent activity.

The hostel is close to town where there are lots of options to eat. There is also a Checkers quite close which has ready made pasta and salad meals which are good value for money. The staff can point in you in the right direction for good restaurants, depending which meal of the day you're looking for.

I didn't see any Whales on the coastal path, but it's out of season. Apparently it's the best place in the world to see Whales from the land in the world. On a walk to the harbour I saw some seals and different varieties of birds, along with a Dassie or two. The coastal path itself is manned by park rangers for security, lots of jogger on there too so don't expect to have the path...

Te BEST hostel in Hermanus

I stayed in it for 3 nights (with a group of 8 friends) at the end of September of this year and I can say that by far it was the best accommodation I stayed in during my 17-day trip around the country.

The bedrooms are very clean, with enough plugs and with quite comfortable beds (and double pillows), the common toilet that we used is also clean and in perfect condition, the spectacular common areas with two living rooms and two large fully equipped kitchens. My favorite areas were the rear garden-pool, with an interior area with a billiards, wonderful. Also in the hall there are many flayers of all the activities you can do in the area.

And finally, it is worth noting the treatment we received from the manager of the hostel, Bron, friendly at all times, he advised you what to do, where to go, what to eat, the truth is that people like that are happy to be in command of these types of accommodation, summing up a 10. an endearing guy that I, at least, will never forget.

Our family had spend three nights in the Backpackers family room, which is actually a whole lovely cottage. Even before arriving we loved how welcoming and supporting the communication with Jaqueline and Marc has been. From the time of arriving until the minute of departure we had been totally spoiled with the amazing hospitaly. We could check in way earlier than booked and had been given so many precious advice from Marc and Jaqueline so that we almost felt like we are having personal travel consultants. The cottage itself was likewise spotless clean, very spacious, cozy, totally quite and very well equipped, and so was the whole Backpackers. It's also super nice located, we could safe and easy walk to everywhere, like the cliff path, the restaurants and supermarkeds. We loved every minute. Perfect place for families and all kinda travellers who appreciate a cozy, clean and calm place with all the good vibes. Thank you so much Jaqueline and Marc, your place and your unique way of hosting people is truly outstanding and will stay...
