Lawn and the other management are very welcoming hosts and very helpful. They make you feel like you are staying at home. There is safe parking behind a walled area with security gate. Central to where I wanted to be and close to the best restaurant in town. The bed was very comfortable. Pillows of different firmness including feather. Lovely old house with high ceilings and beautiful wood floors. The bedroom seemed to have sufficient heating. It takes time to reach balmy warm levels. The bathroom has no heating that I am aware of. It is very large and would be lovely in summer or with heating. But in winter in Kimberley it is too cold. I kept the bedroom door to the bathroom closed to keep the bedroom nice and warm. The entire guesthouse is spotlessly clean. And peacefully quiet. Breakfast is a winner. All round unbeatable anywhere else that I have stayed. Perfect eggs, just the way I like them, from the experienced chef Lawn. Tasty bacon and sausages. Lovely breakfast potatoes. There is something for every taste. I am a light breakfast eater, had it been lunch I would have gorged myself. In the room there is free juice, cookies, coffee, tea etc Also in the bathroom soap and other amenities. That are too often lacking at other guesthouses in South Africa. If I return to Kimberley I will stay here again and recommend this guest house. I was alone but for a couple I think it would be a...
Read moreWe arrived in Kimberley on a blistering, humid and hot day in the summer. Our roadtrip from Johannesburg to Cape Town had just started and Kimberley would be our first stop. ||Jungnickel guesthouse is a quaint, comfortable guesthouse with friendly and helpful staff. When we arrived we were hungry and overheating from the drive. It was a blessing that Jungnickel had a pool that we could cool down in. #HotTip if you are going to be staying in Kimberley in the summer, get a place with a working pool and I bet you will thank me later.||Our room had very comfortable beds, and the room also had aircon as well as a ceiling fan to keep us cool during the night. Our room had a little outside section for those who smoke or just need to sit outside as the sun is setting and the air becomes easier to breathe.||The rooms are quite vintage/antique style, so if youre more minimalist or looking for a place with a more modern aesthetic, this isn't the place for you. ||Breakfast was nothing special, but it was included, so it kept us filled for the rest of our roadtrip.||I would return here if I ever found myself back...
Read moreWe stayed 3 days. He place grew on me. When I first saw the main house with street litter and dust I thought I'd made a big mistake booking it but fortunately we were in the extension which is at a better location. Visitors were South Africans from all over the country, mostly on overnight stays. It's clean and comfortable but decor is variable in quality. We were in Rooms 9 and 10. Nine was great but ten was a mismatch of worn out furniture e.g. arm chair from lounge that's lost its spring, pine cupboard with doors that could not close, ironing board with broken cover and an old gate repurposed as a bed headrest. Cleaning staff were excellent but kitchen staff poorly trained. The breakfast was ok. The manager was very friendly. I think the Travelocity rating is a bit high. All that said we had a...
