The Hussar Grill Kimberley — Local services in Sol Plaatje Local Municipality

I am staying in Kimberley for a week and decided to treat myself my first night . I ordered the crumbed camembert as my starter and it was fine. I then ordered the Hussar Beef burger. When it arrived the bun was cold and the burger was luke warm. I pointed this out to the waitress who took it back to the kitchen and reappeared with my burger about 3 mins later. The bun was now warm but the burger patty was still not. As I was hungry I ate the patty and part of the bun and paid and left. I am a regular at the Hussar grill in Cape Town and have never experienced anything like this before. I must also say that they were maybe 8 customers in total , so the kitchen couldn't have been under pressure. Very disappointing.

POST SCRIPT: I was contacted the next day by Jacques who apologized for the experience and invited me back to restore my faith in the HG. Had supper at The Hussar Grill while stopping over in Kimberley on our way back home to Cape Town. I would highly recommend visiting this restaurant - great food, great atmosphere and super attentive staff! Poppie was an excellent server and talked us through the different steaks they offered which was super useful.

I ordered the gnocchi with mushroom sauce, butternut and feta. Portion was well-sized and very tasty! Our party also ordered the steak special, a beef burger, blue cheese sirloin steak, and kingklip. My only complaint would be that the potatoes (chips that came with the burger and garlic potatoes that came with the steak special) could be improved. The chips were hard and the garlic potatoes were not very garlicky. They were supposed to be baked potatoes but they tasted like they had been microwaved. What an amazing experience! From the call to book our table till the final greeting we were treated as family! When we booked the manager asked if we were celebrating something special. When we got there we were greeted by a chorus of friendly faces and happy voices. The food was amazing!!! The desert was astounding!

After our desert was served, Fifi (not sure about the spelling) surprised us with a very special chocolate plate to celebrate our first child being born soon. What a special moment for both of us.

Kelly, the lady who helped us throughout our visit was such a joy. Thank you Kelly for the amazing service and extremely WOW experience! You are awesome!
