We found heaven on earth! Not only was Sonskyn cottage one of the most amazing, prettiest, comfortable, wonderful, everything under one roof cottages it had the most amazing perfect well thought of finishes from vases filled with proteas to eg, a golden map of the earth on the wall with a sequined cushion that turn gold when you played with the sequins. The beds were comfortable with the prettiest headboards and views of the plum orchards. Lestelle (our hostess) had put our heaters on in the bedrooms as we arrived during a "winter weekend in Nov"! The house had a fireplace and we made use of it the weekend - this just made the ambiance even better. The kitchen had everything in it you could think of. A lovely long dining room table ensured we sat enjoying every meal together. We were able to sit on the massive wide porch and braai - in the rain without getting wet! The walk to the view point to look at the dam and the most amazing breath-taking views was the cherry on top (or shall I say plum on top). We had visitors in the form of such friendly four-legged friends and we just loved having Mika, Lila and our hip dancer Callie join us (Mr Jack Russel kept his distance as he's still a puppy). We woke up to birds chirping, nature calling and didn't want to leave heaven on earth. Thanks to Lestelle for being an amazing hostess. In the words of the Terminator -...
Read moreI booked the cottages for guests (I am a tour operator) and the entire booking has been handled so unprofessionally that I am almost at a loss for words!||Firstly, they changed the price after we had confirmed with the clients. (I had made a provisional booking.)||Then, my clients asked if they could have a look at the property before paying the deposit (it was for a group of 10 people and they needed to make sure the room configuration would work for them)...we made a date for the viewing.||Then 3 days before the viewing, I get an email from them to say that someone else has paid a deposit and the cottages are no longer available for my clients!||I tried reasoning with the owner over the phone (once after the extra costs they wanted to charge, and then again when the booking was given over to someone else)...but to no avail! I was told "it is what it is" and "take it or leave it"...||I really don't know what to say, other than if this is the way I am being dealt with, then I am glad that my clients will not be staying there.||||I think it is important that other people know that this is completely unprofessional and unethical! What else will they go back on their word about?||And that they are not prepared to try and reach a compromise of any sort, or offer an apology or anything...absolutely...
Read moreWhat a rude lady we were assisted by. Was there for the Champagne fest with a group of friends, from Johannesburg and the eastern Cape. We booked 2 chalets. We were down there to also celebrate a friends 40th, so we were out the 2 nights. First of all: they were not cleaned the 1st morning of our stay. Then on the morning of our checkout, the very rude owner/daughter, came to flood the lawn wiwitwiwith water. This is where we had to pass through. She flooded the enentenentire lawn and we couldn't walk to our cars without getting ourshoes wet.
On investigation of what the matter was, the girls who had booked the 3rd unit, had apparently thrown a party and left her pool dirty. Instead of the rude lady asking what and who did what, she decided that she would ruin our shoes, as there is no ther way out, but through the lawn.....
We, all 6 of us tried to explain that she had the wrong people, but she just didn't care, and kept speaking to her brother, in afrikaans to, "just let them speak and pay no attention to them and have them leave...."
What a rude lady she is. Never again. I have passed the message on to everyone I know, and I hope my other 5 friends did the same as well, in order for no one to ever stay there.......
I'd give them a biiiig fat 0 as a...
