We visited La Bri Estate on a beautiful sunny afternoon after a recommendation from a friend who knows their wines. He’d said that the wine and hospitality at La Bri were excellent, so we thought we would give it a try. I’m pleased to say that the recommendation was indeed correct, as we found La Bri Estate to be a charming experience from start to finish.
The estate is tucked away in a beautiful spot just off the main high street of Franschhoek. There is ample parking and they are also served by the Wine Tram, so there are several ways to get there.
We were greeted by Wendy, who then took us to a table overlooking their vineyards and the stunning vista beyond. It was a beautiful place to sit and enjoy some stunning wines for an hour or so. We ordered a variety of their different tasters, and they were all sublime. You could really tell the love, care and passion that has been put into every bottle they produce. Their MCC Sparkling was also divine. Wendy took the time to talk us through the selections we had made, elaborating on the production processes and more.
Overall, we had a glorious time at La Bri Estate, and I would highly recommend a visit if you’re visiting...
Read moreNice place, but without any super special vibe. The staff is rather not client oriented and at times even rude. One of our group members smoked outside and didn’t see a sign that it’s forbidden. The manager came and treated her like she was a pupil who misbehaved and that was super unfriendly, impolite and just rude. She could have told her to stop smoking and explain that it was no an area for that, but she decided to make a scene in front of everyone. Then, generally the place is not flexible, if you want to replace some options in the tasting and I’d say I wouldn’t give it more than 3 stars from a personal feeling. The views are really beautiful, but they also decide to star a very loud construction with drilling and every like 10 meters away on the 1st floor. I’m glad we decided to leave by that time, but there were other...
Read moreThe wines here are fantastic and the views over the vineyards second to none. But what really sets La Bri apart from the rest is the service that me and my parents recieved on a special trip to the winelands. We had made no booking as it was a very last minute detour to pop into the cellar door- and I’m so glad we did! Julian made us feel like we were completely at home- she was just the right amounts of informative, attentive, personal and hilarious as she talked us through the beautiful wines on offer. You can clearly tell when a tasting host is passionate about their work and here it really shone through. Thankyou Julian, for making our day, your wine knowledge, good chats and radiant smile- you really are an asset...
