Just back from a 3 week holiday trip to SA, our favourite destination.|We've been so many times, myself on business and together for pleasure all over this vast beautiful country, sea, scenery and safari.| |Hout Bay is our go-to place in the Cape Town area, its quiet, relaxing and close to everything in the Cape Town area, and especially for the southern cape areas and Cape Point NP.||We had five nights at Hout Bay Hideaway and I have to say this was one very special find, completely different from the average B&B.|Its tucked away in a very quiet leafy area on the eastern side of town some way up the circle of mountains that form Hout Bay.||The house is beautifully furnished in an "old colonial" style. |Our room was at the rear of the house and overlooked the pool and the lush green hill side garden with views up to the rocky mountain top. |It has an outside veranda with big comfortable chairs and our breakfast table.|Inside a king size bed (that gave me the best five nights sleep on the whole trip) and two big old deep leather and fabric colonial chairs.|Also in a neat hideaway cupboard is a nice modern kitchenette, fully equipped with kettle, toaster, microwave, hot and cold water and a selection of cups, plates glasses.|Bathroom has a Belfast sink and a walk in shower with top level and body jets, great water pressure and lots of hot.||Breakfast was de-e-licious, delivered to you on the veranda it included orange juice, a selection of fruit, breads and pastries, with eggs, ham or cheese as required. | |Stars of the show, and a special mention, is Sue and Martin, such warm and generous hosts. Read moreAfter a few days in Cape Town we were lucky enough to find this delightful guest house as a base to explore the Cape Point area. We made a last minute change of mind to stay here rather than in Camps Bay. So pleased we did this as it felt much more authentic and certainly more peaceful! We stayed in a range of accommodations over our 2 week trip, from boutique hotels to cottages, and Hout Bay Hideaway was one of the most memorable. The bed was very comfortable and breakfast on the veranda an absolute treat. Very handy to have the kitchenette area too, neatly hidden away within the room. The house is beautifully furnished in a "colonial heritage" style.We had the smallest of the three rooms, but this was still of generous size and well equiped, including en suite bathroom and kitchenette. Our room was at the rear of the house and we really benefitted from the veranda overlooking the green hill side garden; it was an extension to our room where we enjoyed breakfasts and sun-downers. Sue and Martin were very good hosts; friendly, knowledgeable and helpful at all times. This was our first visit to the property and we would definitely return....
