The Somerset resort provides excellent apartments that are spacious and well-equipped. We could not fault the attention to detail and the quality of the accommodation. The resort is massive and has many restaurants, two theme parks, a casino and pools. Covid has of course reduced the range of activities on offers (such as at the adventure theme park), but there was still plenty to do. The range of restaurants and eateries is good, with the standout being the La Chinoise chinese retaurant. There are fewer bars than you would expect, and being served drinks in plastic containers is a bit cheap and nasty (are they expecting a soccer riot?). There are a range of pools, though many are packed with little children, so be warned. We did not visit the casino, as we neither launder money nor enjoy losing it, however it did give an insight that the resort is built primarily to extract cash from the Chinese market. The resort must have been built with Chinese money, as I do find the lack of a fourth floor to be somewhat tedious and the closed-down duty free shops are a waste of space. While four may sound like death in Chinese, the mere existence of the number has little correlation with anyone coming further or closer to their ultimate demise, so it is trite for a quality resort to pander to petty superstition, especially when Covid is so much scarier than a fourth floor. The resort will work well for families, so do come and visit before the mass market arrives back and spoils it. There are also many activities in the local area to enjoy. And finally, it is all quite expensive, so be warned. If you do go to the casino, put your chip on number 4 and spend your winnings recouping the costs...
Read moreWe booked this hotel to have a larger, more comfortable unit with washer and dryer. While it met our satisfaction for the larger room, it did not include a dryer rather, it is a DRYING RACK. This would not have been an issue if it was properly detailed, but was a classic bait and switch tactic. Disappointed by the lack of attention put in hotel description. We likely would’ve booked elsewhere if we were properly informed.
The water park was closed and the theme park was a joke. Many of the premium features that should be standard came at a cost or required advance reservation, like the swimming pool. Poor form to send kids away since you reached some arbitrary capacity; again if informed properly at checkout, would’ve been no problem.
They tout 5-star experience, but it is 3.5 at best. Housekeeping was supposed to come during the middle of our stay, but did not. Calling them to come the night before our departure was inconvenient. And If you don’t wash your dishes & take out the trash, they threaten to charge you an additional $35 charge.

Read moreI recently visited Somerset to use their spa and jjimjilbang. The facilities were spotless and very well designed. For a small fee (kw 15,000) visitors can use the spa. The spa has a pool and 3 tubs of varying temperatures segregated by gender. The 3rd floor's jjimjilbang has a large well appointed main resting room with comfortable furniture and lounge chairs as well as three rooms (two hot and one room temperature). The snack bar options were rather limited, but still a nice feature for the space. A media room with leather chairs and personal televisions was also available as well as a child play area. Best of all, the spa is not crowded at all. I'll definitely be back!
Well, I went back today - 29/09/2018 - and the entire second floor was closed. Not sure what's going on but I would have liked to have been told this before paying for...
