This hostal was more like a motel than a hotel. It's right by the national road and if you are just passing by and looking for a place to spend the night - its location is excellent. It's good for a walk to the beach, too. The location is a bit far if you want to go visit the rock (El Peñon de Ifach) - 5-7 min. by car. ||||Right next to the hostal there are a couple of restaurants, by the road - a Japanese place and some other venues - didn't try them but they were packed when we came back in the evening, so they must be good :) The accommodation was very basic but well worth the 30 eu we paid for a night. There are 4-5 parking spots to the side of the building - we didn't have a problem but i am not sure if there are enough spaces for everyone who is staying in the hotel. We didn’t try the breakfast but we did try the coffee - it was good and cheap - 2 espresos for 2 eu.||||We were out for dinner at the promenade and when we were finding out way back to the hostal, we found out that there are no lights on the streets which we needed to use to get back. It was a full moon and we had a flashlight but we still could barely see - beware! It's safe though - no problems at all. There were some construction works going on - a lot of painting (and the accompanying smell)||||All in all, it served its purpose - if we are passing through Calpe again, we'd probably stay here again as it's excellent...
Read moreThis one is a really difficult one for me as I always like to give good feedback. This Little Hotel is lovely the room we had was really clean and bright. With a terrace and BBQ outside with seating etc. The pool was lovely but there was hardly any room to sit around the pool to sunbathe. The breakfast was really lovely and very adequate. The staff were helpful and pleasant. The only problem we had was that the Vuelta Cycle race was on the day we arrived and we were not told until the evening before that the road was closed 11.00 - 18.00hrs. This meant we couldn't get to the Hotel without a long walk. It was hot and we were exhausted by the time we got to the Hotel. We felt that they could have let us know sooner so that we could have changed our travel plans accordingly. After all this is a big race followed on TV and equivalent to the Spanish version of The Tour de France. The owner was indignant that it was the town halls fault, but we felt they should have let us know sooner. It is a shame that the owner was not understanding. I have a similar business with guests staying at my villas and if the are inconvenienced at anytime I try to help as much as possible and at least offer them a bottle of wine to help relieve their disappointment whoever's fault it is. It was a shame, but it is still a lovely hotel. Had it not been for this blip I would have...
Read moreDay trip to Calpe, some friends invited us to have couple of drinks around so we decided not to drive back to Valencia. Called las Palomas I around 9 o'clock to see if there was any available rooms. Very messy comunication to try and book in advance. Asking me to send details trough WhatsApp then saying, "no need for that". "Just poop in when you want the room" . Then confusing me with Las Palomas 1 and Las Palomas 2 opening times when.... I just wanted to make sure I could show up before midnight and not sleep in the streets. She said yes yes yes... Probably not understanding me properly in Spanish. In the end we showed up thinking we had a room a bit before midnight, big surprise when calling and the same person says we are in the wrong place (Paloma I closes earlier than Paloma II), when I clearly specify I needed Paloma I as it was next to our friends house... Knowing it was closing early we would get a booking somewhere else. As Paloma II was in a bad location for us, but she wanted us to walk all the way to Palomas II claiming it was my mistake. Finally we got a taxi and got a different Hotel. Can't complain about the place as we did not go in. But the customer service trying to get a room and once we were outside.... Horrible... Bad communication and very...
