Hotel Monumento Pazo de Lestrove — Hotel in Dodro

Lovely characterful, peaceful hotel in a fabulous setting. Great morning and evening views from the room - our bags had been moved to our room before we arrived which was a nice touch. The breakfast was varied and very good. The hotel restaurant food was also very good indeed. We would definitely recommend the hotel and we would come back again.| |It may seem churlish to mention the very few less than ideal aspects but for those looking for detail prior to booking those that there were, were as follows: drinks at the bar were far too expensive and the swimming pool water was so icy (late September) it was almost impossible to use - despite it having been very sunny all day and all week prior to arrival. The hotel restaurant produced superb food though it took over one hour between ordering and the starter to arrive - we were hungry and also keen to get to bed early for the Camino de Santiago so that was a little irritating. However the kitchen staff brought one or two canapés to try and ameliorate the slow service. A beautiful hotel in the middle of nowhere. However, our stay was totally spoilt by a rude and spiteful member of staff . Everyone was lovely except for one staff member with black curly hair . She didnt like it that we sat in the sun in the seating area at the back , chastised us verbally and went out of her way to be unhelpful and smilingly vindictive for the rest of our stay . She made us wait excessively and repeatedly in the restaurant while being overly attentive to other diners . When we asked for a second glass of wine with pur mains ( willing to pay for it ) she indicated she would bring it but didnt . Instead she made a point of stripping the tables surrounding us and deep cleaning them . Following that she then made a point of removing all the open wine from the dining room and putting it away . The food was nice but our treatment left a nasty taste. Needless to say, we were not willing to put up with this treatment any longer and left , relocating to the bar where we were treated better. Lovely room , comfie bed and breakfast . I believe this staff member would deny the way she treated us if asked , but my friend and I know how she made us feel and we are convinced it was...

The property is simply beautiful, however quite a few things during our stay that were disappointing, and that’s because in my mind I was comparing it to a Parador experience. Bathroom amenities … better not the have that to offer what it is in the room. Not even mentioning the Green & sustainable pitch and all individual cases. Terrible. Minibar not working on a summer time! No way to get cold water in the room…at a property like that?!phone on the room not working… so to ask for anything I would need to step down? Tired? Thorn (and holes) sheet in the bed… that should have never passed by … |Breakfast: no scramble. Eggs? Not to order nothing? No crepe, eggs, churros?! |Then again, staff cafeteria was great! Good bike assistance and structure, attentive person at check in that came to meet us outside the reception to speed us up and store the bikes while other people where checking in. Amazing location!
