Taberna A Filoxera — Restaurant in Padrón

This is the best place to eat in Padrón. We came here straight from the Camino and had a fabulous lunch: beans, tortilla espanola, padrón peppers and artichoke along with a perfect natural red wine. So when we wondered where to go to dinner it became apparent quite quickly: come back to A Filoxera. This was also the first recommendation from a well known local. We had the burrata tomato salad (wonderfully juicy) and the cod sashimi. Grateful for the delicious food and such a wonderful friendly service.

One suggestion for the future: it would be great if water wasn’t served in single use bottles. I will gladly pay for filtered water in multi use glass bottles.

Walking the Camino de Santiago we had read that this was a great place to stop. There was no other table seated, although some were reserved. The waitress asked what we were drinking then disappearing so we helped ourselves to menus. She brought us our wine and beer and left again. We made eye contact several times and then a big table walked in. We patiently waited and I signaled we were ready to order. She signaled just a minute. We finished our beer and wine and she never came back. Finally we went to pay the check and find a place to have lunch. Moment of gratitude for this adorable wine bar doing god's work: it's basically the only kitchen open in Padrón at lunchtime (12:30pm) on a Monday. 🙌 The service was warm and friendly, efficient and lovely. We navigated a little Spanish /English language barrier perfectly fine, and smiles and great attitudes cross all cultures. It was a lovely lunch experience, with excellent wines, black squid ink croquetas, crispy prawns, and delicious artichokes with Iberico ham.
